Is Melina the burned body of Ranni?

There's certainly a connection between the two and I think this is it:

-Melina talks about being "burned and bodiless" and we can find the burned, discarded body of Ranni on top of a tower that she got rid of to free her soul.

-Both Ranni and Melina have something going on with their opposite eye, can't be a coincidence.

-Also both of them know Torrent and there's probably other proof out there.

Therefore I concluded that Melina is actually the burned, discarded body of Ranni, living a life of it's own. Probably created/ressurected/given purpose by Marika.

Though it isn't the actual physical thing because we can find that on top of a tower, it is like a spirit / spectral version of it, this is why she can appear out of nowhere.

Though they are two completely seperate person now. They just have a shared past.

Ranni is the soul, Melina is the body.

If someone would argue that: "Melina can't be Ranni's old body because she is X"
Well, she can be both, she probably wasn't "born" yesterday so she had time to explore the world and live her own life for a while before meeting the player character.

Thoughts? Anyone knows any hard proof why this theory can't be true?

In other words, historians looked at historical evidence and then made up little stories to explain their findings. These findings get presented as fact in textbooks.

Well said and very true. There's more truth in Elden Ring/Dark Souls/Berserk than in the TV/media that's for sure.

Yeah even in the Witcher 3, it doesn't matter how dark it gets sometimes, you can just know which is the good path and which is the evil one. In Dark Souls/Elden Ring everything is questionable pretty much, it makes you question your own morales and what is even considered right or wrong, everyone makes their own path, etc. That's what makes it good.

nepheli is a better wifuu pick anyways, ranni is hella untrustworthy, marked for death and cheating death only makes you a target, that makes her dangerous and not a suitable long term partner, if her stupid quest didnt lock out all the other npc quests in the game it wouldn't be as infuriating but the fact they make such a useless character so relevant to completing literally anything in the game. and then the story becomes elden ring, the simptom of ranni, instead of elden ring, an unknown lord creating a path OF THEIR OWN.

if anything, i just made this party a billion times better by injecting some actual reason into the conversation.
p.s. if yall just wanna simp for ranni you should just say so.

I saw the same opening similarities between Ranni and Melina... and it went nowhere. Typically when there is a connection you can find something, anything somewhere in the game itself tying those things together. But it just isn't there with Ranni or Melina, and what we do know of them doesn't intersect.

- Both are "burned" and do not possess proper physical bodies anymore, but that's it. It hints there might be something more, but ultimately it leads to nothing. And given this game I can imagine other entities had similar circumstances befall them as well, with fire being inherently heretical and all.

- Their opposite eyes being closed feels like a connection. But again, this never goes anywhere. What's more one of the endings kills their connection entirely (follow the path of the three fingers with Melina still alive) when we see Melina open her left eye and assume her true appearance. Ranni on the other hand has a completely different ending associated with her, and the reasoning behind why her eye is close is never stated, but you can more or less draw conclusions based on what you are seeing in her ending he "ghost" right eye overlaps with the doll's left eye. IE, her soul is likely contained within the closed eye in the place of an eyeball.

The real problem comes when you compare their backstories. They're very incompatible, and I speculate they didn't even exist within the same time period.

Why both of them know torrent though, I have no idea. We know almost nothing about torrent or his/her backstory.
