Why is this game not on sale?
It's 50 percent off everywhere else but on steam. You can't even get this game on GMG. I would have assumed it would be at least 40 bucks for the holiday sale.

Unless it's different for major publishers (possibly it is), a game on Steam can't go on sale till 28 days after release (beside for launch discount).

I am hoping this goes on sale soon - the price on all others look enticing but rather it on PC

Because Amazon is eating the cost.

because retailers are paying for the other 50% steam is about self ownership unlike other retailers so if you don't want it on sale it will not be on sale.

I've noticed new physical copies of games seem to be getting better discounts than digital copies.

Because they've already been paid for and whoever is selling them is trying to get rid of them.

It's losing them money if they sell it at a loss.

That's how retail works, you might lose some money on something but now you've got space and money to buy new stuff. Plus all big sales bring people into the store and sure you might lose some money on one thing but they could buy something else you make money on in addition to corporations like the big sales numbers by the end of the year.

So you are saying it's a bomb sales wise? How much space could it be taking that it's worth losing 30 bucks a few weeks after release. The running a special to get you in the door really on applies to brick and mortar stores. First come first served to make you feel rushed to get in their store. Once you made the effort to go in store you probably will want to get other shopping out of the way. However, for Amazon it's just a click away so it doesn't really make a 30 dollar loss worth it.

Say I buy 100 shirts and expect to sell 80 and still make a profit but I end up only selling 70 and have 30 left over. I would want to get rid of the leftovers so I'd price them to move them while still turning a profit and get started working on the next cycle.
