I understand the developers not wanting to make things too easy for the player, but honestly this is some of the most horrid level design i have ever seen in my entire life playing games. I literally just spend over two hours trying to get back to my ship on the planet of zeffo before finally giving up and searching for a walk through on youtube. Even the video on youtube was over 20 minutes long and all it was was explaining how to get back to your ship. This is unacceptable and frankly it's embarrassing.

Not to far into the game but I found the planets so far beeing relativly smart in design. I allways just needed 30second to run back when I needed 10minutes to get in. Might change but zeffo wasnt to bad.

Zeffo isn’t too bad. Dathomir and Kashyyyk are worse for endgame backtracking since they are both long and linear.

I was in Dathomir (first visit until you need - I guess double jump) the shortcut there is actually very nice - question is how big that planet gets cause its allready quiet a line to the ship (45second running basicly).

That’s basically a third of the time it will take to get to the Swamp of Sacrifice with all shortcuts opened. Takes even longer to get to the Origin Tree on Kashyyyk cuz there are no shortcuts in the second half of the planet, except when going back to the ship.

I played ton of dark souls end stuff - so I'm used to it and dont see it as a problem. Maybe its that - maybe its just gets worse and worse - idk. I see how it dosnt appeal to alot of people.

If you are observant as you play, you'll find that you will be unlocking shortcuts along the way and the only sections where you are "locked in" are typically clear if you run it's course. I will agree the map can be confusing and the areas can be tough to learn.

The map is totally worthless. One of the worst maps (usability-wise) I've ever seen. But it sure does look pretty and in keeping with the Star Wars/holograms theme. Of course, if this isn't your first game, you really shouldn't need one anyway.

I pretty much just started playing, The learning curve is playing hell with me. Not to mention the lack of skills needed to get anywhere doesn't help either. Yes once you get to a planet and start moving forward, getting back to the ship has me walking in circles. But once I do find my way I always feel better. I forget what map I'm lost in now and the map layout is better then some would say. Playing is like a 3rd grader walking into a high school class.

Point being, Jedi FO hasn't told me I can't do it. Is that not why we play.

Controls aren't the greatest, but not terrible. The stupid climb button is the most annoying thing, I think. So far anyway, still on the first world.

And the holomap doesn't help cuz while it looks cool and is reminiscent of SW holograms, it can be rather confusing to read when levels overlap.

But yeah... I wish they had made the game more metroidvania and DS1-ish instead of DS2 or even 3. 3's world isn't as bad as 2's, especially with fast travelling, but neither top the first's intricate verticality. The linearity of the levels is one of my main gripes with this game and I truly hope that the sequel is a lot more open. I can let go of the set pieces for more intricate maps that wrap around themselves.

I actually think the map is really good, my only issue is you can't zoom out that much. I look for key areas on the map: Yellow bits are unexplored, green bits are things I can use my skills on that I haven't yet and red is no go. When I land in a new area with lots going on, once I clear it out I open up my holo map and have a look at the structure of the place. It even clearly defines running walls and rails to help you navigate or approach a particular fight.

I think the main issue with the map is when you first look at it, it really is quite loud, I would advise spending some time looking over the map. The map is actually so good for me that when I look at the holo version I can picture the real 3D world in my head, even remembering which secrets I found, where and how. It quite possibly is one of the secretly best maps in the business.

Same for me, but not all brains are blessed with good relativ-orientation and maps. Everyone got his weakness and strenghs and if yours isnt reading maps this game is horror tbh - same for alot of games which actually dont have a map - I for example am an extreme, I coud recreate the whole dark souls map with I think pretty much most details no problem, others struggle to find their way through blighttown after playing the game the 3th time. Its just personal.

I actually thought Kashyyyk was a lot better as you could take rides on the way back without having to walk yourself, but Zeffo really gave me a headache when I was playing as I didn't have double jump at the time
