I checked. People reported screen shake pretty far back, years in fact. So it's probably not caused by this update.
Here's what our performance guide says:
"Hi,
It was me who wrote about problems with the screen "jumping/jiggering" when hovering the mouse over menus and about the flickering shadows and flickering mouse. The problem was so random that I thought I manage to solve it through running the game in Windows XP mode. Now I know that this was not a correct solution (I will edit my post on the board later. Now for the solution (which I think you maybe want can add to your optimization thread). The problem with the "jumping/jiggering" shadows lied in HDR mod included in TLD. The solution is to change EnableMotionBlur=0 in enbseries.ini. The flickering shadows and the flickering/no mouse problem is caused by crossfire. If you disable the crossfire option (in CCC) the problem disappears. For dual-GPU owners it may be a problem because you can not turn of Crossfire through CCC. There is a program named RadeonPro (http://www.radeonpro.info/en-US/) through which you can disable crossfire in dual-GPU graphic cards.
Thank you"
I had similar issues when playing on my laptop, but it was outside of Erebor. When looking at a certain direction the scenery started to act up. Thought it was first my gfx-card on my laptop getting fried, but when I changed settings to higher end the scenery was fine.. I wish I could test it further, but now my laptop have really fried (harddrive failure, not gfx-card).
Edit: My suspicion is that it might have to do with low settings in general that can cause the scenery to act up
This mod outclasses Warband by far (plus most other games out there) Great work.
The following is therefore only fine-tuning suggestions
I like the new "destroy scout camp" quests.
Saving villages from bandits (pre war) seems a bit unbalanced though. There aren't even volunteers ready to be recruited, but the villages are infested with foes that can't be beat alone at early levels. Maybe reduce the number/quality of troops but also make the quests more urgent (Why can't the king send troops within 5 days if i can make it there in 3 hours?)
I do like the pressure/density (Especially as Gondorian/Rohirrim) of the game but there is only little time to explore the beautiful world and do some of the sidequests. Especially if the king needs to like/trust you.
Maybe it is possible to postpone the start of the War a bit (lvl12?)
Or is there a way to slow down level up for the first 7 Levels? The character would still grown in fighting proficiencies....
Is there anything that can be done to give bigger parties a higer morale?
Even with high CHA and leadership + the Cauldron and good recent events the morale drops significantly when reaching 100+ size.
I know this is normal M&B behaviour, but shouldn't a good sized troop bolster the confidence of the soldiers in a situation like the war of the ring? In Warband there was a lot more Food that could compensate. Maybe add more perishable (expensive) consumables?
Maybe it is because i used the WB battlesizer before, but the battle size slider is not working properly. Might also be caused by the recent Warband update, but mine displays the fivefold of the actual number (750 equals 150, with battlesizer: 2500 equals 500)
And with sieges the numbers don't seem to match. Seems like there are a lot more troops on the map (already in 3.3) but if i manually limit the battle size and TAB out of the battle and start with a new deployment it works - if using TAB to leave the battle works. Did you change anything there? (maybe i should reinstall freshly?)
Is there any way (debug mode?) the game can identify the exact battleground I am in?
There are a few invisible Walls/objects/ odd collision boxes in a some areas. (And just claiming there are some without specifing where exactly won't help anyone fix it.)
Did something happen to the Wargs? I saw a "Mount Warg" textbox once (as a good human)
And the Wargs stood idly after their riders had been killed. I know some people where really annoyed by unmanned wargs charging their lines but this is one of the most ingenius elements of this game. (Yea, them biting your infantry's heads off would also be awesome, but from a tactical point of view, the result is similar)
Is there any chance archers can be taught to aim lower? Especially when fighting goblins this would be nice (Plus, it would make fighting trolls a bit harder -> less accidental headshots)
The defeat x parties still doesnt fully work. My journal said 4 out of 5 (after killing 8 groups, 5 without help) but i could complete the quest.
Triabal goblins quest works better than in warband (maybe because there are less hosts in the beginning) but still it seems like pure look whether the quest can be completed, becasue it is unknown how many groups there are. And it is cancelled if any other party kills one of those groups.
Dispatching Troll is similar, i don't even chase after them anymore. is there a way to make them slower and stronger for autoresolve checks? Like give them ~20 invisible (immortal?) companions that self-destruct once they are in a real battle.
Prisoners: what happens to Prisoners i rescued but did not recruit?
Do routed enemies spawn as deserters? (that should be attacked by all factions)
Why can a ~40 raiding party spwan a 90+ prisoner train with 2 prisoners?
Visual things:
HDR makes the fonts glow like stars at night, plus some "leaks" in landscape around Minas Tirth/Pelennor battleground causes the same effect:
Re: Village quests, I think it is supposed to be a level 2 - 7 quest. I could make it to a level 3 quest so that at least a day has passed, which will then lead to volunteers in the camp. I just wanted players to experience the quest faster :) But I do understand that it can be quite difficult without troops (almost impossible, i think).
Lots of people are actually asking for the war to start earlier! lol :P I guess it really depends on people's playstyles! Some people get bored doing the lord / mayor quests, but Im happy to know that you like exploring Middle-Earth. That's the goal of the mod - for the player to LIVE Middle-Earth.
I'll see what I can do re: morale. Were you playing as "Evil"? One of the fun things TLD is designed to do is for Evil players to field a horde of orcs! But WB mechanics (e.g autoresolve, morale, food) get in the way! We are always looking for ways to keep morale high for orc hordes, or ways to feed a horde. If you have any suggestions, please let us know!
RE: Battlesize in the options menu - it doesnt work :( I thought it did, but it looks like there are other things involved. So i might just revert back to previous behaviour and recommend using the battlesizer program (google Battlesizer for Warband).
RE: Collision, invisible walls - You can enable edit more when you start Warband. Then when in game, enter the scene with the problems, and press ctrl+E, and you should be able go into scene edit mode.
RE: Wargs, all I did was change the time it took for them to run away (from 45 seconds to 25 seconds). That shouldn't have caused this issue, but you never know. I have asked some of our team members to help me test it. I will test it myself too.
RE: Defeat parties - I have tested this multiple times and I always complete it. Are you sure you are killing the party that you are told to attack? It is not just destroy X parties. It is destroy X number of Y-type of parties (e.g destroy 4 RHUN CARAVANS). I'll take a look at the code again, but I am quite sure it shouldn't be bugged.
RE: Dispatch Troll - I will code the same way I did for the above, where you are allowed to assist. However, I still need to learn how to either make them slow, or make them non-attackable by other parties.
RE: Prisoners - I don't know
Routed enemies do not spawn as deserters. They just run away.
I dont understand the last bit re: prisoner trains :) Can you clarify?
Thanks for your feedback and I look forward to more!
