error on this chamber laser cube will not drop

I'm pretty sure I didn't solve the first part as intended...

No problems with the second part whatsoever.
Muzozavr Nov 27, 2022 @ 3:29pm
Easier than I expected, even with some interesting moves in the second part. Ideologically don't like the quick flick of the cube past the fizzler , it's easy enough to execute, but feels cheesy. The angled panel bit made me lol when I realized what you meant to do. The Hammer work on the atmosphere is probably the biggest strength here, the "reconstruction" feel is spot on and the finish with that elevator is pretty menacing.

Quite impressive hammer work but I did not like the ideas behind the first puzzle. Still, thumbs up

Very Good!

Really nice looking and the puzzles took some thinking! It seems the Mevious solution you mentioned has disappeared. Not being a portal ninja, I think everything I did was legit and intended -- still it would be nice to see Mevious' solution to know for sure. Again, nicely done.

No wonder why I like this test chamber so much. It gave me a headach.
TrespassersWierenga Apr 23, 2018 @ 12:06pm
The website listed on the wall at the beginning takes me to a realty site. I checked the whois, been owned since 2007, was this the intention?
nock Jan 30, 2018 @ 1:15am
Nice puzzle, enjoyed it a lot, even though the map decided to have a really weird moment with the angled panel at one point

I really liked this map. However, I found quite a big problem which makes the map easier to solve. If you want, I will tell you about it.

I do not know how this old map is put in my list, but it is in my favorites now. Very good puzzle in a beautiful setting.
I found a little glitch: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1187245450

Best puzzles I have ever played :D Not too hard and not too easy.

that was not that brutal. but clever and obvious moves. favorite.:steamhappy:

Very, very nice map.

cool!

Great map. That was something. Part of what makes it unusual is the inverted nature of beam and button use. Like block the beam to enable something.

Awesome job!

Very clever an original puzzles. You've done a very painstaking job.
Not specially hard, just in the middle. I've enjoyed
Thanks a lot !

Any puzzle that is still able to make me say A HA! gets my highest rating. Thanks!

Love it. Favorited and following :)

Great map. Beautiful level design and visuals. Challenging logical puzzle. Just a perfect map. Wow Thumbs up!

Very nice. I was stumped for an hour! Finally got smart and thought with portals.
Chelliste Dec 1, 2014 @ 2:01pm
Enjoyed this very much. Still getting used to the idea I first enciounted in the Dilapidation series where you can manipulate a cube on the other side of a fizzler field without touching the fizzler yourself. It is an unusual exploit of a game glitch and, in these maps, required to solve certain problems, as far as I can tell. Regardless, this is a masterful puzzle as are most of the Dilapidation maps. It taxed my brain, not my twitch skills!
Petutski Sep 25, 2014 @ 9:06pm
Excellent. Very challenging and complex. Great work! My brain is tired!
not-paradiser Sep 7, 2014 @ 4:59am
Awesome ! Confused why it's only getting 1100 ratings .
TS_Mind_Swept Jul 28, 2014 @ 9:25pm
Well i actually had more trouble with the 2nd part than the 1st part, but i have finally gotten it, ur crazy man, just crazy! Like robin_z said "I have no idea how you create such a convoluted puzzle! I don't mean building it in a map editor, I mean the ideas behind the puzzle themselves." And to be honest, i found the solution in the 2nd part kind of by accident, i wasn't really trying at that point when i realized, I CAN DO IT FROM HERE! Kind of like untying a knot, you just work at it and work at it, and when you stop paying attention, you realize that it's almost done! :p 8.5/10

Can i add u as a friend? (I like ur pichure too by the way)
Kazitor Jul 9, 2014 @ 6:36am
Hang on, how are you level 0?
Kazitor Jul 9, 2014 @ 6:35am
Good to see the old Dilapidation series make a seamless comeback - it really does feel like a perfect continuation, like I'm playing part 7. The puzzles are just as challenging, the art is still incredible to look at, and the effects are still good.
If clicking the "Thumbs up" button multiple times made a difference, I would do just that!
quat Jun 19, 2014 @ 4:41pm
Hope Selyp's okay back there :(
robin_z Jun 6, 2014 @ 2:47pm
Great map! I found this to be a bit over medium in difficulty. I have no idea how you create such a convoluted puzzle! I don't mean building it in a map editor, I mean the ideas behind the puzzle themselves. How can you determine that there isn't a sneaky loophole? Anyway, thanks for the fun map!

@DeathWish808, thanks for the video again, honoured by your comments, working hard on Portal Stories at the moment so put these maps on hold.
DeathWish808 May 6, 2014 @ 6:59pm
I remember your dilapidation series and Prototype sent me a link to these 3, so I played through the 1st one on twitch.tv.

I didn't remember anything about the chamber especially ever playing, but apparently I did since I had already thumbed it up. Regardless, it was like a new map to me, so awesome!

I thought this was a blind run: http://www.twitch.tv/deathwish808/b/526524968 :-P (It really was though. haha)
dues Feb 6, 2014 @ 11:49am
After playing through dilapidation this one seemed easy. Or maybe I just adapted and learned your logic paterns. Once again, nice job. I'm off to the next one. "Please sir, I want some more"...Oliver Twist.
ZAEROS Jan 21, 2014 @ 1:24am
Played part 3 recently and decided to look at 1 and 2. Was stuck for some time once again, forgot the golden rule that cubes are replaceable! Enjoyed greatly, Thank you.
RagingR2 Jan 7, 2014 @ 12:13pm
I had a different solution than in Tom. K's video, and apparently my solution wasn't intended, because when the door opened I could hear the "congratulations, you have trapped yourself" anouncement playing through the exit message. What I did was:
I put the companion cube, that Tom. K used to block the laser until the last moment, immediately in the red basket. I lined up the laser through the portals like Tom. K did, opening the door and raising the red laser screen. The portal in the room where the laser is, was on the third white panel from the left. I moved that portal, disabling the laser screen, so I could walk towards the exit. Near the exit, right behind where the red laser screen would come, I put the left portal back in it's place on the third white panel, perfectly lining up the laser to open the door. Placing the portal from there was tricky, but barely possible.
I hope this is clear, if you need more explanation please ask. :p2aperture:
[ExR]-IAMV0LDY Nov 12, 2013 @ 5:37am
Thanks! I Found the particle prop by myself but i couldn't figure how to make it work, the problem is that in the space where it asks for the model I had no idea what to use. Somehow it opens a viewer for the particles but there isn't anyone to choose! Anyway, typing that particle name worked fine.
LoneWolf2056  [author] Nov 11, 2013 @ 3:58pm
@[ExR]-IAMV0LDY thanks, the water is just a normal brush with a displacement to make it look like pools, the water texture is "water_a1_intro3" and the water from the pipe is a particle effect "drip_stream_01"
[ExR]-IAMV0LDY Nov 11, 2013 @ 9:35am
Nice chamber and expecially nice hammer work! I have a couple question about the water you find after you jump in the "pit".
Is that a simple "cube" of water made with brush with some displaced terrain around it? If yes, which texture did you use for the water? I only find dirty water textures while your looks cleaner (meybe it's just because of it's low depth?). Last thing, how you made the ripple of water falling from the tube? Hope you can help me!
AnarchyPaladin Nov 10, 2013 @ 10:17pm
Amazingly well done! The the difficult level is just perfect, even better than Dilapidation!
Techowl Oct 22, 2013 @ 3:12pm
This one is much more enjoyable than the Dilapitation series. One requires some logic on cube placement, but the difficulty level is just right.

I picked to play this map to play for the delapidated atmosphere - I gave a thumbs-up for the brilliant puzzle. Nice job.
