Interesting mechanic, wish the 2nd chamber had utilized it as well. Nice work though.

too easy , first room was quiet good.

Good tests. The first one was balanced and elegant, though the second one was a bit simplistic. Overall, very nice work, and both of them had some very cool concepts.
Rei Feb 12, 2015 @ 12:13pm
Nice concept deployment. Sadly they just work like normal switches (in another map i remembered from somwhere else), as i don't would need the cube for them until getting to the result. Also like Flippie meant, better go from easy to difficult - although thinking of flipping a Lasercube wouldn't be the easiest for intermediate players, though.
I would suggest you my RolliPort out of the difficulty of this map, although you are invited to try one of my more difficult ones - for science! ;-D

Very nice. Several unique elements and lots of fun!

ZAEROS Feb 25, 2014 @ 2:38am
Good fun map, Not too easy but I enjoyed it a lot, Thank you.

Subtle and orginal, good fun, thank you for that :-)

Maybe you should switch the rooms, since the first one was difficult (took me some time) and second one, i knew instantly...better to work from easy to difficult
stormsend Jan 27, 2014 @ 12:26am
Very nice job. I didn't spot the switches right off so it took me a couple minutes in the first chamber. I like the added touch of the block for turning the cube in the second chamber. Good looking map. Thank you. My Handsome in the end... If you'd care to take a look.

Awesome test chamber :) Could you try mine? http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=180312984

I think people who take the time to comment "I'm downvoting this" are laughable. If you donwvote it, do it, but why feel the need to call attention to yourself over it?

I liked it! I didn't think to check, but do the glass buttons only work for the test subject or for cubes too? Wait, I'll go check... OK then. Not for cubes. So, there's a button that works for both (regular buttons). One for cubes (or spheres) only and one for test subjects only (glass buttons).

I may be the last to notice, I guess. But, then again, I haven't ventured into building levels.

Thanks

Lpfreaky90: Sorry that you feel that way.

Tags- It was essential to use hammer for that carved cube that you drop the reflection cube upon, thus giving this test the tag of "custom visuals" even though I made it predominantly in PTI. I know this test is not deserving of such a tag.

I am also cognizant that simply mirroring a test and publishing it as my own is not ethical. I made this test as an emulation of Mevious' test; not a copy. I also have given Mevious credit for the basic schematic of this test in the description. I read the steam workshop agreement and found no part that specified an infringement by stealing intellectual property, which I do not think I have done anyway as I put Mevious' name in the description. As for the second puzzle, I have never played "damagepy's cube training."

I thought that some people might enjoy a "walking on water" re-skin of "The Gate." I was hoping that publishing this test would not cause hard feelings.

I'm getting very very very tired of all these PTI re-skins that get tagged as custom visuals.
It was very very clear that the first puzzle was based on Mevious' gate. The trigger buttons added nothing but confusion and the puzzle was basically the same too.

The second puzzle was very similar to a puzzle in damagepy's cube training.
All in all it feels like a cheap copy job. Sorry but this gets a thumbsdown from me.

The voice sound by the door between tests triggered multiple times.

Good job ....but so short , thumb up
Bayram Jun 3, 2013 @ 6:35am
Nice use of Hammer to enhance a PuzzleMaker chamber, thumbs up! Glad to see you've taken the plunge. The foliage in the first room, however, is the wrong kind. It should be on the floor, not hanging from the ceiling. Spend a bit more time browsing the models. The BEEmod triggers are more effective in this chamber than the first as they are combined with regular floor buttons but are operated differently. The Mevious credit issue is that you shouldn't really copy the puzzle element from someone else map, even with cosmetic changes to the setting, and "Inspiration" is by no means sufficient credit.
violaghost Jun 2, 2013 @ 8:08pm
Awesome awesome awesome! Couldn't tell which one was supposed to be easy, but I really enjoyed this. Just difficult enough.
Spectro  [author] Jun 2, 2013 @ 3:58pm
I gave Mevious credit in the description and the map is slightly different, so I don't see the issue.
mechahamham Jun 2, 2013 @ 1:34pm
I liked the non-standard elements in the second room, but the glass buttons seem kinda redundant. Regular buttons would have done the same thing.

the first chamber i could see exactly what to ddo, yet soent ages working out how to do it, the glass buttons are far to difficult to find for somone who hasn't played gate or seen an previous glass button chambers, the second chamber i again saw immediatly what to do and it was just frustrating getting the cubes lined up right.
RobTenken Jun 1, 2013 @ 7:36pm
The first chamber was challenging but fun; I found it a touch frustrating, but that may just be me. The second chamber was basically just frustrating since it relied on dropping the cube and letting the cube rotate, which had a big chance factor and isn't built into the controls on my system.

Are you using a controller or similar that lets you rotate held items? If so, you may want to keep in mind that this is not (as far as I know) the norm.

Also, there was a voice overlap on entering the chamber. I found it irritating.
Buckfuts Jun 1, 2013 @ 4:38pm
Like others, I had a real brain-fart in the first part. It took me way longer to figure out the relatively simple solution than it should have (and I had already played "Gate").
As for the second part, I found it imediately obvious what I needed to do and got through it pretty quickly.
Nice work!
Dusan33 Jun 1, 2013 @ 3:49pm
Too short and easy. Took 3 minutes for me.
spluff5 Jun 1, 2013 @ 3:20pm
The second one was way easier than the first!
ThePhantom4567 Jun 1, 2013 @ 1:31pm
that was a serious brain buster. i spent like 10 minutes over analyzing the first part and when i was done with it i was like YES!! but to only realize that it was only half the battle. Great Test

The first chamber I've played before in another map - or at least something similar by Mevious.
Simple but well done on both chambers. Thanks.
viorel.c Jun 1, 2013 @ 3:55am
Personally, the first chamber was very easy, once you figure out what the glass buttons do.
The second one was quite challenging. Very nice. "Outside the box" thinking!
ξ Jun 1, 2013 @ 3:22am
First is nice. Second is strange...
Gareth May 31, 2013 @ 7:30pm
I don't see how "glass buttons" are different from normal buttons except the fact that they're made of glass...
Dave May 31, 2013 @ 5:50pm
nicely done suprising level :) and little trocky too one of the better level played well done man :)
peabody May 31, 2013 @ 4:24pm
I had the same problem as one of the others that commented, I was over thinking it. The solution was right in front of me but I didn't see it. Took me a while to find it, which of course made it FUN without being impossible. I enjoyed it. Thank you. I had the PS3 version and I just got the PC version so that I could keep playing. Thank you for writing this.

My first one if you care to try it. Comments welcome.

Having not read the description before playing, I was stumped at first until I realized the plates were buttons. I found the second room quite easy as I use that same technique myself in a few maps. As always, I think you have a nice design style. Well done!
Please try one of my recent chambers:

first room actually took me longer than the second, though i cube tilted (cant see how else you could do that though, and it looked intentional with the little nub there
Andi May 30, 2013 @ 12:50pm
I really liked this chamber. It has several nice elemental designs and is very fun to play. My only complaint is that is was just a tiny bit on the easy side but it's hardly noticable. Excellent job, thumbs up.

Would you mind trying one of mine?

Nice, if a little simple.
Sticky Sock May 30, 2013 @ 7:29am
It was a wee bit over thought, the glass buttons are a bit of a pain, as they just don't look like they should be there in the first place.
Vintage Glatzbart May 30, 2013 @ 6:21am
Lesson learned. Never used that technique before. :-O
Ernesto May 30, 2013 @ 5:42am
both good and made me overthink simple solutions, which weren't ninja
Finch May 30, 2013 @ 2:28am
elegant. Always wanted to use lens cube in a different way ;)
Stagger Lee May 29, 2013 @ 8:47pm
I thought it was well designed. Good map.
Nobody No-One May 29, 2013 @ 4:01pm
Nice, but the second test had no glass buttons, and in the first test, the test would have been just as easily possible with floor buttons instead. I suggest you make a test where the glass buttons not being cube-sensitive is an obstacle, otherwise they are just reskinned floor buttons. Also, why did you go into hammer and add a PLANT to the first room?
marshmallie May 29, 2013 @ 3:28pm
Hey, did you take inspiration for this map from the map Gate by Mevious and the map "Cube Tricks"? (don't remember who made it.)
And like odsemail990 said, the concept in the second map might be hard for some newer players to get, so that should be a little easier.
Overall nice job on this one.
