Description
Dinosaur Treadmill Generator

A generator for your base, Create electricity using a Trike and berries
A generator for the field, use a Dilophosaurus and meat to generate electricity while out and about.
A portable electric fridge using a Mesopithecus and berries as its power source

Mod id: 867838567

release: 9/5/17: New Dilo powered generator and Meso powered fridge.

The items can be placed once constructed. Generators should snap to cables and can be connected to electical cables. The fridge cannot be used to power anything else (the monkey is too weak to create the energy)

Move a tamed Trike/Dilo/Meso near the item and select 'Captiure Dino' from the radial menu. Only a tamed dino from the team who own the item will work!

WARNING: The dino you get back, when you release it, will have the same level as the one you captured but capped at level 10, but is a new spawn. So the stats will differ and it wont have any breeding boosts! I suggest you use a cheap tame rather than an old friend! The release is really only intended to allow you to move the items about!

The inventory for the captured dino, if any, will drop in a bag to the left hand side of the item.

You can add berries/meat to the inventory, depending on whether the power source is a carno or herbivore, once fueled you can turn the item on and off in the same way as a conventional gas driven generator.

All items are constructed in the players inventory.

Trike-mill requires a generator, a feed trough, metal ingots polymer and electronics.
Dilo-wheel requires a generator, metal ingots, polymer, wood and electronics.
Meso-fridge requires a generator, metal ingots, polymer, wood and electronics.

The Trike mill is much heavier than the other items, and is not meant to be carried about, the others are lighter for field trips!

The burn rate is currently set to 1 berry/meat every 5 mins. For the Trike-mill this should mean that 2000 berries will run the genny for a week. The inventory will take 40 items or 4000 berries. The other items last for less time due to restricted inventory size.

For each item, the inventory acts as a fridge, while the generator is running any contained berries are preserved at the same rate as a standard fridge.

In this version you can retrieve the enslaved dino in one of three ways:
  • Release worker item in the radial menu.
  • Pick-up the generator.
  • Demolish the generator.

To be reviewed and may change:

The construction resources and costs.

The burn rate of the berries.

The destruction costs.

Sweet! Happy to have inspired something.

Output box sounds interesting, a power converter. Means I wouldn't have to create any significant new models. Power/Food source could change if a Tek dino was attached...

I don't have an SDK installed at the moment but I may take a look at some point, thanks for the idea!

I had not really thought about it; I guess I was trying to think of a way to convert my anticipated surplus raw meat and crude oil into a way to power my TEK structures.

Wait, what about an electrical outlet that also powers TEK stuff? Nothing visually fancy, just the outlet box that can snap to the treadmill wires with increased functionality!

@Grim thanks for the thumbs up.

I am more of a coder than an artist :lunar2019grinningpig: what would it look like? would it require a tek dino to drive it? what would power it?

Have to admit the Tek stuff is not really my thing, tend to play original, with Tek disabled, when I do.

I love this mod. It has been my sole power source for close to 6 months now.
Do you have any plans for a tek-level treadmill?

@gus, just follow the basic guides for making a generator, shouldn't take too long to knock up whatever it is you want.

just wanted to see how it all worked. im really new at modding. so it would be interesting to see how things "tick" so to speak. and potentially make it look a little more primitive. but yeah! :D
wuzzy  [author] Mar 2, 2023 @ 4:33am
@gus any particular reason, it's just a basic power generator. And I am just playing the walk and eat animations while they are active, nothing particularly special

would you be willing to open source this mod? :D

yes, you were right. It worked perfectly. The problem must be one of the mods of that server. Could probably kraken's better dinos that gives an upgrade of most of the dinos as a TLC
