Description
Client crash warning
Currently there is a bug that can somtimes crash clients on MP servers. I am investigating it but it is not yet fixed. I recommend server owners not to install the mod until this notice is gone and those who already have it to de-install should any of your players complain about crashing (access violation and or heap corruption).

The HypeTrain mod adds fully functional player-driven trains to DayZ. Attach different types of cargo wagons to transport passengers, items, and liquids around the map. Additionally, you can place containers such as barrels and other base-building items on the wagons to turn your train into a mobile base.
Key features:
  • Vaulting, walking, jumping, ladder climbing, etc. all supported while moving and even between wagons!
  • Physical item transport (not just a virtual inventory)
  • Very close to real-life simulation of train physics. Be aware of inclines!
  • Fully custom and immersive sound design for all aspects of the train
  • Interactable, automatic level crossings



Installation / Setup
Dedicated Server
Add the mod to your server and copy the keys folder content into yours.
The mod does NOT come with full example files for the central economy setup yet.
You can use the included example mission files as a quick and easy way to spawn in a train setup, even if you already have persistence data.
It is also possible to spawn them via your choice of admin tools.
Please refer to the pinned discussion section for a list of all the relevant class names!
Singleplayer
If you just want to play around with the mod in singleplayer you can use the official launcher → Parameters → All Parameters → Advanced → Mission, and select one of the missions that come with the mod e.g

Roadmap / Contact
I intend to update this mod for a few years to deliver bug fixes, performance improvements, and new features based on user requests. There are many things planned like advanced base building options, reinforcing the train for combat, and new types of trains such as hand-driven pump carts.

FAQ
Is the mod ready to be used on my live server?
It depends! The mod is currently still in BETA state. Until all known bugs and balancing concerns are resolved and the performance could be tweaked, I can not recommend running it on a high population server. If you have a test server or are only playing with a smaller group it is worth checking out though. A persistent multiplayer experience is generally supported already.

Should I be using the init.c files from the example missions on my server?
NO! Those are for demo testing. Please consider properly setting up train spawns through the central economy. All class names can be found in the discussion section: Class names and central economy

What maps are supported?
Currenlty only ChernarusPlus, Enoch and Namalsk are supported. However, I will be updating the tooling and work with map authors to get support for their maps in as well.

Hello friend, here’s an idea for a covered vanilla car with the ability to install a codelock on the door, there will be a mobile base on rails, and such cars can be left at dead ends on the map and used as a mobile base or a standing one.

What is happening, if you collide with a Train Wreck event ?
Are these events even spawning with this mod ?
Can the train maybe drive thru these events ?

So this may have just been a me thing, but I just had the barrels I had in the train cars wipe themselves clean? Hasn't been a problem in several server restarts but for some reason, after this restart, the barrels just cleaned themselves out. Some modded stuff, but even base items deleted and there were no changes in the types files or anything. More just an FYI than anything else.

Some observations

The Western slope on Cherno from Kamenka on the coast to Zelengorsk is pretty hard to ascend with anything but one car coupled, even with a good runnning start. The Eastern slope from Svetlojarsk up past Novodmitrovsk is a bit easier, I slowed to a stop there with a flatbed and a tanker, so I uncoupled (it's flat enough to do that), drove the engine down a bit to get a good running start and bumped the cars up the slope, twice.

Tried that bump the cars thing on the western slope but the cars just dragged the engine down hill even with brakes fully engaged, that was pushing and pulling cars with the engine.

Glass for the train engine despawns, not sure how long that takes or if that's the mod or a server issue.

Please add a fuel can slot on the engine OR on the tanker. Would make refueling alot easier and cut down on the player from carrying a fuel can in their inventory.

Love the train, so fun to have a train set to play with again!!

incredible mod, took some time to set it up on my server but it was well worth it. Being able to use this on livonia and chernarus is so fun, cars are cool and all but this is basically a moving base

@Fallout95 Yes, if you set them up as vehicle events. In that case, just like a car, the train will be wherever you left it last, unless someone else operates it of course.
