Captivating story, although with a somewhat underwhelming ending to me.
Overall it's a very enjoyable game though, even for those not very interested
in stories there's good gameplay to be found.

Also, you get stickbugged, a lot.. literally

Why spend your money on the like of Battlefield and other similar titles when you can spend it on games like these with devs that actually know what they doing.
When a game with such simple graphics as this gets props for realism from the likes of Jonathan Ferguson - keeper of firearms and artillery at the Royal Armouries museum in the UK, a sentence some might be familiar with, see link at bottom - you know it's good.

Also it comes with a price of around 1/4th of that which these triple A publishers ask for their tech demos rather than games imo, so there's that too.
Give it a go, you won't be disappointed, at worst just shot a lot.

Haven't played for a few years, decide to reinstall.
Reluctantly let Ubisoft install their highly invasive anticheat.
First match I play has a cheater on the enemy team.
Uninstall.

Great game, not quite finished yet (as of writing this review) as you'll figure out when you defeat the final boss.
Definitely worth a shot both solo or on servers/with friends

It's fun, but you don't really get rewarded for your efforts unless you buy the battlepass.

TL;DR: This got me into programming and computer science because of how easy it was to
exploit when I was a kid, newer builds may be more robust in some areas but I've still found
some fun stuff.
Try it out if you're into that.

So my previous review was rather positive, and admittedly most of that is nostalgia.
A more objective review would not recommend this, I had a lot of fun with it as a kid,
but truth be told it's not good anymore.

However, the game has so many programmatic flaws and choices that flat out go against Unity's documentation
in the worst ways, it's incredibly fun to find exploits.
This is one of the games that fuelled my desire to learn programming and other computer related skills.
Therefore, if you or your child already has an interest in that, mess around with this.

To give an example, in an older build I edited my save file in such a way that one of my chests would dupe all items I put it with a little load trick.
I assume this has since been patched, but I'm sure there are plenty more holes to find.
As for the Unity thing I mentioned, I obviously can't and won't share any details, but have a look around for yourself if you have the know-how (and if not, you'll learn it if you look in the right places :) )

I'd take ARK: Survival Evolved over this, and that's saying something.
