Initially put this game off, but after watching a video of it I instantly got hooked. Cobalt Core innovates just enough to feel unique in its own field, but still familiar enough so you can easily get into it if you're used to other deck-builders.

Having been over 6 years in development by the makers of Divinity: Original Sin (1 and 2), the game has released and been received with a surprisingly positive reception. At least compared to other games of the same genre in recent times.
With the game being based around the ruleset of D&D 5e, the game can work as a great way to get into tabletop roleplaying games, even though the game itself is a CRPG. Compared to D&D 5th edition, there are a few distinct features that come in to light within the game.

Firstly, the game doesn't have a person running it along with a simplified ruleset of 5th edition. Although this makes it less interactive, it also means that it's more easily digestible for people new to the genre. You are also able to play this game by yourself- or with 1-3 other players which makes it way more fun.

Secondly, the game has several settlements with numerous characters and objects to interact with, allowing you to learn more about the world around you; if you desire to do so.

Third, the game has numerous options for character creation- with 7 unique "origins" to choose from the start along with intricate storylines revolving around their character's past, future and present. Even if you don't fancy this, you are able to create your own custom character from a selection of 11 different races and around 30 sub races from those. Further companions can join your party at later points in the story.

Fourth, The game has multiple classes and subclasses to choose from at the moment along with possible plans to add even more classes in the future. The game currently has 12 classes, with the most recognizable ones being Fighter, Wizard and Bard and from those 12 classes you have over 30 subclasses to choose from. You aren't bound to a single class either, as you are allowed to multiclass into other classes with level ups and you are able to respec your character at almost any point in the campaign.

And finally, the developers have announced both that they have internal mod support planned and that they are have no intentions to add any microtransactions to the game at any point in its life-cycle.

Even though the game is quite expensive at the moment, I'd say it's well worth it as I've enjoyed every minute of playing it.

Feels great when your entire sub starts going down due to that one friend going afk for a bit.

Well, i lost a bet and had to play this game. In the end, the game actually wasn't as bad as i thought it was. Just get it when it is discounted if you really want it. I think it's only worth it's price during a sale due to the game's short length. It's also quite hard at times. Conclusion: The game is decent.
