i actually do really like this game but its because i play a tiny non dedicated server with my gf and friends. if you do any official server you will want to put a loaded shotgun in your mouth

if you ask any consistent ark player if the game is any good theyll go "absolutely not its terrible and ♥♥♥♥♥ sucks" and then they'll go back to playing it for another 8 hours straight

i keep putting koi ponds in people's yards and laughing to myself imagining their reaction if that happened irl

to quote the friend i streamed my playthrough to, upon me reaching the end: "i can hear the tears in that laugh"

i got to customize the dog. and then after that i got to keep adopting dogs. i have at least 18 now. sure 14 weapon classes is cool but i have an army of dogs. and a heavy machine gun i guess

Regarding this game's mixed reviews: One big thing about horse game fans is that they are extremely nitpicky and critical of everything. They'll always find something to complain about. And a lot of them are just bugs that have been fixed now, or complaining about the cost of breeding, which they're fixing also.

As a massive horse game fan, I really loved this game. It's not perfect, but it's an amazing step in the right direction of the perfect horse game.

Pros:
- The horse personality function is the most creative and fun version I've seen, and it really makes you feel more bonded to your horse
- Pretty graphics
- Fun horse colors
- Fun story, although shorter than I realized
- Really unique gameplay for brushing, feeding, and petting
- You feel geniunely accomplished when beating a race
- Really gorgeous world, fun to run around in
- Good character models (looking at Pascal. i desire him)

Cons:
- Only one horse model unless you download the Irish Cob DLC, which I did and I love it
- It takes way, way too long to build a house to be able to customize your character
- Game has a lot of trouble determining when to consider a horse 'in water' (applying the stamina and strength debuff but washing your horse. This was the most frustrating when I was having to wash my horse in rivers/ponds)
- Also takes way too long to build a washing station for your horse, considering how dirty it gets
- Little to no replayability, at least for me

Opinions (aka not actual bad things just stuff that I'm personally not fond of):
- Hairstyles and outfits for both player and horses are kinda lame
- Story was shorter and simpler than I expected, and never resolved the literal start of the game; what happened with our aunt??

All in all, I do recommend the game! It's really fun and good for a one time run through, though I'm not sure when I'll open it again lol
