Early Access Review
Years ago, when I was still a kid, I was hyped for this game. I ignored it for a while because when the early access was released I was kinda disappointed with what I saw. I went to play project zomboid, and No more room in hell. Recently though, I came back to this game. Its improved quite alot, and while the map needs a serious focus on completing buildings and landmarks, there is alot to do.

This game is definitely a co-op game. PVP is an option for bigger servers, but considering the lack of active players I would expect more of a cooperative pve focus. Level progression to unlock new craft items is permanent to your account, and the variety of defenses, and traps you can make are really nice to see.

Guns feel powerful, and balanced, melee is a little janky at times, but bearable. Chainsaw is a meta for solo players when raiding armories at police stations, airports, and the military base. Food and drinking is important to player health, but it also offers xp rewards and increases in max stamina and health. Base building feels fairly cozy, and I would love to see more things to add to base building in the future.

Scavenging anywhere almost always provides a decent amount of supplies in structures within vanilla mode. However, if you want specific loot, you'll have to visit places like gun stores, pharmacies, and tool stores for a better chance at finding what you need.

The variety of guns is nice to see. From what I see so far, you have a .308 winchester lever action rifle for early game, 2 .45 revolvers, a double barrel 12ga, 9mm pistol/smg, 18ga pump action shotguns, and your classic AR rifle. There are even flamethrowers you can craft or find as well, which is quite intriguing, but that will be accessible once you've reached the later levels of progression. I didnt really expect the variation in shotgun ammo, so i find it to be a nice change in games like this that better shotguns use a different kind of shell. I imagine there are more firearms too, and there is also your classy crossbow as well.

The game very much feels largely interactive, and gives the player a decent amount of agency with what they want to do. However, I encourage players to play this with at least one other person, as you will be probably limited on what buildings you can reasonably secure by yourself. There is also farming and hunting in this game, but I kind of feel like it could use a nice polish. There does seem to be an electrical mechanic for most structures as well, so if you find a generator in your scavenging it could be very useful to help provide lighting and power to your base.

There are a handful of cars currently in the game that offer a variety of features, and game mechanics also allows you to fortify vehicles with player made structures like a barbed wire wall that can be mounted on the body of the car to improve durability and looks. Getting a working car in the vanilla mode can be challenging sometimes. you largely have to hunt down and cannibalize parts from various other vehicles you find, along with the gas. Until you can obtain a healthy stock of gas, or a siphon, you may end up struggling with gas a little in your car journeys. You will definitely want a car as soon as possible too, because it takes a decent amount of time to travel between places of loot or developed areas. If you attempted to walk from one town to another for example, you probably wouldnt get there before nightfall.

You have the option to avoid night hordes if you feel you are not ready yet for the horde. Like if you need to fortify your base more for example. However I would highly recommend you do hordes even if you die because you will respawn at your base anyway with the majority of your loot still intact. Horde combat is great for getting more levels to unlock better supplies you can craft.

If you have a group of friends, I definitely recommend playing this game with them. Solo players will finds this challenging, but i recommend it to them as well for the challenge itself. The game continues to receive updates albeit slowly, but I would expect the game to continue improving as we go forward.

I always wanted a game like this. I recommend it as a fun and yet challenging sandbox civilization/defense building game. My advice to the devs after playing a few hours is that I think we should have the option to build custom buildings if we start in an area where buildings are few and not efficient to adapt. It would allow for more flexibility in playstyle.

good single player experience for a few hours. Needs more content to retain players though. Preferably new cars, more landmarks, and better enemy ai. There is a multiplayer build but it is highly unstable and I wouldnt recommend using it unless maybe you try lan connection or something.

Despite the bugs that are still being fixed, and the lack of all the promised content we would get, the story, characters, and the game itself are tolerable enough to offer a couple hours of entertaining gameplay. However I would recommend waiting to buy this game until: the bugs are fixed, or they put the game on sale.

This is probably the best world war 1 fps I have ever played. It is a perfect balance between both realism, and fiction in combat. The only downside is the playerbase is low. Finding a decently filled server is hard, and joining one is even harder. If more people got this game however, it would be a blast. The devs also continue to update the game, so it is frequently being improved. It is rare that i find a game like this that I am satisfied with. I recommend this to anyone looking for a good vintage era fps.

Its a really fun game. Inspires teamwork, but is really simple to learn. I had a blast playing just the six hours alone. While the game still needs work technically, for what it is its a fun experience. I hope the developers continue to work on the game!

As much as it is s t i l l in dev hell, the new build for the game is really promising, and has helped me dive back into the game. I think it has alot of promise, but work needs to occur faster on it, or else the game will lose momentum again. Even still, the content made by the community is always very enjoyable to play, and I am still satisfied with the re-playability of the game. The challenge to survive is never ending in this game, and any true survival fan should at least try this game out.

Even in 2020, this game is MAGNIFICENT! It may not be the most historically accurate, but it's grimdark depiction of the worst war in human history is outstanding. I would also say that the graphics are still fairly pleasing to the eye as well! The flak and smoke filling the urban settings and even some of the more rural settings is breathtaking. The sound design too is wonderful to hear. Composition of the main menu theme and mission songs is intense! Playing this on the PC brought back the same kind of joy and awe that i had when I first played it when it came out renting it from blockbuster for my xbox 360!

It isnt a bad game. It is just lacking the player base to really make it great.
