Overwatch 2 is a good game to play casually with friends every once and a while.

If you want to be competitive and grind ranked, this is not a good game. If you want to play a game that has some pvp and some pve, this is not a good game. If you want to a game to be a completionist, this is not a good game.

Most of the interest in OW2 were because of the new PvE system they were advertisin but they ended up cancellin that and now you get a lackluster ♥♥♥♥♥♥ fragmented story PvE mode where you pay per mission. If OW2 has success it will be devastatin for the game industry. Other big titles with PvE campaigns will follow suit and start sellin campaign missions in this fragmented style. I urge you to not buy the PvE mode if you have any self control. This PvE system is an atrocious money grab and should be ignored until they are forced to change their monetization style.

Right now I believe you pay $15 for invasion missions. But the missions are pretty short and there are only 3 of them? So you are payin $5 per mission but the missions are short and have very borin gameplay. When I say very borin gameplay I mean even on the hardest difficulty its just bullet sponge brainless robots that just walk towards you slowly without avoidin anythin or mixin up their movement or actions and the bosses are kinda interestin but so simplistic its not even fun. I probably wouldnt even play these if they were included in the battlepass and I love PvE content.

Dont even get me started on the battlepass, the battlepasses in OW2 are ♥♥♥♥, you get mostly garbage bloat items a few good skins and then the mythic skin for $10 or 1000 overwatch COINS. And instead of givin you in game currency (overwatch COINS) throughout the BP or at the end of the BP they made a NEW currency to give durin the battlepass called overwatch credits and those credits can only be used to buy items straight up in the hero gallery but also they cant buy everythin, so there are many skins they will lock to the shop which you can only buy from them for real money or overwatch COINS. This confusion between coins and credits was worsened because after launch the game had a battle pass which gave you an orange currency called overwatch credits, but to buy things in the shop you need an orange currency called overwatch coins (with almost the same exact symbol as credits), but within the hero gallery (the only place you could use credits) it showed credits as white. -_- Now they made credits white in the battlepass but I cant help but think they did that on purpose to see if they could get away with it.

For me this game is way way way too expensive for how lackluster to content is. There are around 6 seasons a year cause two month seasons so you would be payin $60 every year if you wanted to buy each battlepass, but also remember you are PAYIN MONEY in order to earn the privilege to grind out the battle pass so you also need to dedicate time to grind out the battlepass, and dont forget they made "quests" give less XP which made it take longer to progress through the battlepasses after S1 so that people play their game longer. Now to add their future endeavors they will probably be releasin story content on a regular schedule which will probably be $15 like this one and that will happen multiple times a year. And then on top of that they have a store that sells OTHER skins and items that you might not even be able to get even if you play the game 24/7 and bought all the battlepasses, grinded em out, AND bought the story missions, and grinded em out. It just seems like the OW2 team wants money and they dont care about the game that much, I could've asked a crackhead off the streets of san francisco about how to implement pve in OW2 and got a better result than this. They are sellin PvE as if they are deliverin the product they advertised even tho its just OW1 story events with cutscenes.

Also just found out they sell the bundle for invasion pve at $15 but it gives $10 of free overwatch coins in game... So why did they upcharge $10 extra for no reason? They could simply offer a $5 option with no bonus coins and people would buy it wtf are they thinkin

One of the funnest games I've played in a long time. I've only played a bit but so far its really fun and its FREE, at least for now. I say give it a try it seems to run very smooth and the gameplay is immersive and diverse

Pros:
  • Variety of weapons with different paths of upgrading them, so there is alot of variety in playstyle as well makin it easily replayable.
  • Good UI customization options, you can change some of the FX to your likin and change color of crosshair and character model.
  • Simple color scheme, its black n white but has color on the enemy projectiles and some of your projectiles but its kinda color coded so you know, dont get hit by green and purple is fine. This pairs well with the customization options cause you can make ur cursor neon blue or somethin that wont blend in with anythin
  • They had no steam achievments and then they added over 10 of them within a few days of alot of people askin, which is really promisin because it seems like they are listenin to their community. (also might be coincidence of timin but still a good thing they understand steam achievements can draw more players to their game. Which some game design teams miss because they are not good at lookin through the lens of a player from different perspectives.)
  • Good sound design, makes the game immersive without takin the spotlight.

Cons (Keep in mind the game is near perfect for a new game, the cons I list are just things I think can improve player experience):
  • Not much to do rn, I unlocked every weapon and beat the game with a few of them, plannin to do the rest soon. Not really a big deal since its a new game and ITS FREE. But if there were more things to do or more in game things to earn it would give players more to strive for, I have no doubt they will keep addin more stuff to do and it will get better and better.
  • Not really a way to review what your talents do, if you pause and mouse over the skills youve picked in that run to check, you just get a popup tooltip that says the name of it instead of the stat change.
  • Cannot see your current stats, not needed but it would be nice to see what they are currently at in a pause menu or in the upgrade menu.
  • I do like the black and white aesthetic but I do believe maybe a little bit of color on the abilities icon frames might help with the user experience and UI readability or just more unique icons for talent trees that are unique from each other but different from other trees. For example, singularity or plasma can have a little bit of purple on the frame or picture so that you can more quickly register the talent tree that skill in your pause/upgrade menu is a part of. Right now I kinda know most of the talent root icons but further down the trees it gets harder to memorize the all icons so you have to click and read them each time if you forget one of the talent trees. (this doesnt matter that much, it comes down to a design choice, I think in time people will memorize them if they want, but it is also better to have them a little more distinct for players that arent that used to the genre so its easier for them to pickup the game. So if the devs want to improve the casual players experience of the game, stuff like this could help but the devs could also leave it as is and players who want to memorize the black n white pictures like me will do so anyways.)

My opinion is its a good arcade racer game overall definitely worth playin at least once if you haven't played it.
I waited till it was on sale for $2.99.

(Take these pros and cons with a grain of salt cause this game is from like 2010/2020)
Pros:

  • drivin mechanics are easy to learn and understand
  • driftin is smooth and easy enough to maintain
  • good music
  • online servers still work for an old game and people still play
  • can customize color of the cars and the car's wrap
  • able to toggle sirens/headlights
  • lots of different cars to try
  • graphics look pretty good

Cons:
  • color/wrap is about the only thing you can customize and I think you need to pick your color each race
  • No real story just instance based missions in a pretty much linear unlock and play single player
  • Online doesn't let you customize searchin for game queries that much, so you have to pick a game mode and a racin class you can't pick a mode and search for a game in all classes at once
  • A little too straightforwards on car choice, you can just pick the highest top speed car and pretty much always win because NOS gives you plenty of acceleration.
  • I couldn't get a controller to work on the game but that might just be me. 100%ed it just fine with the keyboard. usin the numpad's 8456 for the weapons and 0 for the reverse/regular brake.

Good game, lots of stuff to do in the game, rotating events, well paced game progression, and lots of items to unlock.

If you only read one review read this one (PS: Spoliers)
First off I have played the game for a bit and I enjoyed it more or less, but it could have been much better I hope in JC5 they dont release it till its complete. Many people say the game crashed a bunch and its unplayable but personally I never had the game crash and it worked fine (PS: I'm playing it on a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ laptop). Some positives were the new grappling hook system and some cool vehicles like the Stealth Microfighter which goes stealth like the quin jet. Some letdowns were that there were many things that were unpolished which are very easy to correct which made it feel like the devs didnt really care about anything besides the sandbox aspect of the game. I understand the insane amount of work it must have been to create these weather elements (tornados, sandstorms, lightning storms, blizzards) and have them work efficiently. But I could have waited till january or even march to have some things polished, For example in the cites on mountain sides you can quite easily find a missing wall and walk through it into the buildings and get out of the map. One of the biggest issues is that there is no save slots and save data management because I have to rely on the autosave and trust that it works and I did but everytime I get off if I dont fast travel and then die (to force auto save) I risk losing up to an hour of progress. Also I still do not understand why they didnt add the stormcore as a droppable item after you beat the game but I assume its because they would have to figure out how every weather event reacted with each other like blizzard with a tornado or blizzard and sandstorm might crash the game. Also I really wish you added things like if I blew up enough stuff in a tornado it would be a fire tornado or if I shot the wind gun at the tornado it would make it more intense like the wind cannons did in the last mission, but amazing job for the first game with these weather effects. Ammo was a big problem and I think you guys assumed it would be okay cause we have a grappling hook which you can do amazing things with and kill people with the melee, but its better to leave that up to the player and give them more ammo and the melee does like 1 dmg so you just have to slam people into ♥♥♥♥ with the grappling hook till they die to get a new gun. I was disapointed there werent steam achievments for easter eggs (secret achievments ofc) but so far all the ones I've done seem great.

Some additional and some repeated thoughts
Pros:
- New interesting grappling hook mechanics
- Can start tornados, sandstorms, and blizzards from their respective bases
- Cool new weapons, including a gun that makes lightining storms and shoots a stream of lightning bolts
- amazing new map with lots of exciting easter eggs
- Great details on the weather events
- - Tornado goes from grey and brown and white on dirt to blue and turquoise when in water or the ocean (idk i just really liked this detail)
- - Tornadoes pick up trees, dust, dirt, cars, etc
- - Sandstorms make enemy NPCs blind.
- Great driving in cars
- Nitro in many vehicles both civilian and military
- Most graphics in free roam look great for how much ♥♥♥♥ is going on
- interesting side stories (Javi, Garland, etc)
- You can fast travel any location you have visited
- You have a certain number of pilots (aka beacons for JC3 players) but they recharge almost as fast as you can use them
- You unlock more pilots as you progress
- Tons of unique locations
- Different biomes

Cons:
- Menu is arrow keys to scroll only and left click is back not esc
- No fire tornados >:I
- Wind gun doesnt increase the strength of tornados
- Cutscenes are preset graphics so they look like ♥♥♥♥
- Sometimes the grappling hook lags from when I press it.
- Tornados looks grainy from afar
- Bikes are almost undrivable for me (Maybe I just suck tho)
- Also the sliding when going off road in a sports car is just a tad too high to the point where it makes them almost undrivable I think this is why most bikes are weird to drive
- Lack of ammo and no way to upgrade ammo capacity, you just have to grab a new gun
- Some parts of the terrain and infastructure in game is unpolished
- Autosave only
- Can't summon tornados, blizzards, and sandstorms anywhere you want them.
- The lighting storms will kill you sometimes when it has no other targets or it hates you and it seems to prioritize killing the people in missions that the game says to protect :I so you cant really use the lightning gun unless you are in a situation with no allies to protect which there are alot of those.
- No effective explosives other than rocket launchers and other launchers

And having considered all this and many other things I have experienced over the 40 or so hours I played this game it pains me to say I would only recommend people buy this game when it goes on sale, mainly because the no manual saving and no explosives other than the weaksauce rocket thruster mod are big deal breakers for me. One of which yall could have fixed by just making the rocket thruster bomb mod do more damage. those and other things just added up to too many minor inconveniences. But I wont lie I do not regret pre ordering the gold edition and I did throughly enjoy my time playing Just cause 4 because there were many new things in it though most people will not appreciate them like the weather events, which were most likely hard to implement efficiently.

If anyone disagrees with anything I said be sure to comment and correct me
