This game is a completionist's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nightmare. It's mechanics appear decently well thought up, the main levels seem fun enough. It's generally a really light time. Solid platforming, you could probably breeze through it quite quickly.

However

The quality takes an absolute nosedive when it comes to any side content. The game seems to up the difficulty to an absurd degree for even the most basic and light gimmick with zero thought put behind it. It turns anything that could've been a nice change of pace or a fun challenge into a solid reason to put a hole in your monitor. I'm gonna continue trying to go through and complete this game, but let it be said that you should avoid 1G like the plague, and that the developer really needs to break every toe on both their feet for even ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ CONSIDERING putting the time requirement as high as they did on that level.

=====
Pure salt below:
=====

This game's inconsistent difficulty is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dreadful. I play a lot of 3D platformers and a lot of games with grapple mechanics, but this game will go between being braindead easy to making me want to stop ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ living with how unnecessarily and inconsistently difficult it is. Oh and for that matter, it's not an enjoyable difficulty, these stupid ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ difficulty spikes come exclusively during portions of this game where there's some dumb ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gimmick without a second of thought put behind it with an arbitrarily high ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ clear condition assigned to it.

The developer needs to go back through and give their game another play, because holy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ I sincerely hope three years of experience would have knocked some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sense into them.

This game is a masterpiece, I love it, I want everyone to play it.

But also, it keeps wiping me and my friends' saves at the end of the game because it refuses to save all the way up to the end and throughout the post game, and that blows.

Quite possibly the best Super Sonic has been. The rest everyone debates to hell and back, I personally enjoy all of it, but Super Sonic in this game goes *crazy*.

I have been trying to get this game working for actual days now, and am still talking with support. It is so buggy and broken it is absurd. I literally cannot even get past the first objective of the tutorial, because the game doesn't even properly initiate after giving control to the player. All I can do is run around a tiny, barren area with nothing to do whatsoever.

This game is a joke. I'll be giving them a week and a half to help me fix this, and if they can't I'm getting a refund.

As someone who adores The Witness, recommends everyone try it, continues his playthrough even now attempting to perfect that time trial challenge, and is still exploring the island trying to find every hidden puzzle and neat perspective trick:

good game, lol.

Well I've been having great fun with the game so far... However, it appears that some endings never really "unlocked" for me. I never actually got the button on the main menu for the Epilogue ending : | . So there's definitely some glitches that'll prevent you from actually seeing parts of the game. Not to mention that apparently while the previous game prided itself on being able to see any (almost) any given ending at any given point, this new game actually has some semblance of progression, which actually prevents you from seeing previous endings in that progression line again. It's rather peculiar, all things considered. The new content is quite good, I just sincerely hope that they solve some of the current issues.

EDIT: I stand corrected. Including the spoiler. Exceptional, no complaints.

It ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ confuses the ♥♥♥♥ out of me how a game with such a great concept and game feel somehow managed to ♥♥♥♥ up all of the quality of life features. Some guns are so samey in design they are near-indistinguishable in the heat of the moment. Portals are just downright unresponsive half the ♥♥♥♥♥♥' time. The jetpack is abysmally useless despite the gravity being so garbage you can't fall down to lower levels without a giving enemies prime time to unload an entire clip into you as you do.

And don't even get me started on the map design. Some maps are just unbearably lacking in portal surfaces and far too cramped with too many long straightaways spanning half the map to justify it. And not to mention the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ABSURD amount of things place that you can easily get caught on. I shouldn't have to worry about the placement of a random ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ office plant with a hitbox that's way too ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ large while trying to maneuver around. They seem to be a giant fan of tiny insignificant juts out from the wall for aesthetics that will get you caught on them to an absurd degree CONSTANTLY, as opposed to following any good map design practices and making it so you won't get caught on ♥♥♥♥ that's hanging out by a single ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ CENTIMETER.

Not to mention the fact that the player somehow appears to be bigger than the camera would lead you to believe? I don't know how to explain it, but they somehow ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up the hitboxes to make it completely uncomfortable to actually maneuver around, because even though by all means it looks like you should be well out of the way of the shrub of the week, you'll still get ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ caught on it as if were some impenetrable force field. How about when you aim a headshot but it hits their shoulder instead because they don't prioritize the head hitbox?

This is an amazing game, and I love to play it, been playing it for well over 100 matches now, but for god's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sake did anyone even watch a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game design tutorial on YouTube before this was put out? Sure, the gun play is satisfying, the portals are a great mechanic, but quite frankly those are the only two pieces that are keeping this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ duct taped and glued together game from falling to pieces.

Maps that are designed really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ well is where the game thrives, but those are few and far between. It's just absurd.

To be clear, I think you should definitely play the game, but it needs a ♥♥♥♥ ton of work. Especially considering the absurd amount of expensive cosmetics and microtransactions shoehorned into it.

However, I will say that despite the 21 hours, and the 100+ matches, I am quitting the game, I am uninstalling the game, and I'm not starting again until they fix their ♥♥♥♥.

It's showy. It looks fun. That's about it.

It uses a lot of the cheap ♥♥♥♥ you'd expect from a modern rogue-like, that I'd normally enjoy, yet paradoxically lacks the element of getting more powerful through successive runs.

It also casually has a boss that casually just completely nerfs your dodge to the point of being unusable.

So while the combat is the most fun ♥♥♥♥ I've ever got my hands on, and the spells are really cool, you are 100% going to hit a content wall that you will remain at for an absurdly long time, turning a game that would've had fun replay value with the varied spells into an absolute grindy slog. Which is absurd, considering the game really doesn't need to pad for time considering what it is. It's great fun, until it intentionally makes it where it stops being fun.

It's like the developers upon realizing they made the best game ever, decided they needed to do *something* to give everyone else a fighting chance, and just put in the stupidest ♥♥♥♥ they could think of.

You should buy this game, to be clear. Just don't play it with any expectation to progress. I'm one stubborn-ass "git gud" kinda dude, but there's no "getting good" when the game just seems entirely too keen on resorting to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tactics, and I don't mean "oH tHiS gAmE sUcKs" kinda stuff, I mean just actual ♥♥♥♥ that makes you pause for a second and go "really? that's what you're going with?"

Maybe if the time sink of actually getting to bosses was a bit more tolerable, and enemies wouldn't hit you the next ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ frame after just getting hit, it'd be more tolerable. But as of right now, this game might as well be an hour long, because by that time you sorta get the game's number, even if you doubt yourself and go "there's no way it's actually designed like that, I must just be seeing ♥♥♥♥" and keep pressing on like I did.

In summary:
- In spite of having a dodge, or abilities that relocate you, they are highly unreliable no matter how you try to account it. Not even expecting I-frames, just positionally speaking. You will take damage from this.
-- That dodge will also just casually get effectively disabled on at least one boss.
- Enemies will hit you mid-combo, and then juggle you to death.
- There is no actual cross-run progression. Sure, you can buy stuff in the lobby, but you aren't going to get anything of value, and nothing that'll provide any actual advantage. That's a good thing normally, not in the case of how this game is designed. It's designed like you get upgrades, but plays like it's tightly designed and as long as you're good you'll win, when it's just not. It's entirely reliant on luck of the draw, but good luck winning even with god-tier rng, considering you can easily get BS'd out of a win.

-Just don't bother playing beyond an hour. It's amazing for that hour, but the realization will set in.

I don't know what the hell happened to this game, but I used to play it waaay to much in High School through the Standalone Humble Bundle version of the game. I had to have clocked something like hundreds of hours into that version. Coming back to the Steam Version recently, however, I don't know what it is, but almost everything in this game either downright doesn't work or breaks in some stupid way, or was made to be needlessly obtuse. I can't just sit down and have a good time playing this like I used to, even after clocking a reasonable amount of time into it once again.

Very good game, doesn't overstay its welcome. Took me four hours to beat, including post-game unlocks and 100% (save for achievements). This even included me accidentally glitching a post-game item through the ground and into a cave, and then going all over the map trying to figure out where it went (they normally respawn if you drop them into the ocean). And even then it was still a blast trying to figure it out, and still didn't overstay its welcome. Heck I might even go ahead and do all the achievements as well. 10/10, would recommend.
