I recommend this game for the music alone
If you are new, this is a nice introduction to RPG, the game is simple and easy to understand overall
If you are an old fan and have some doubts, I think you should still buy it, the nostalgia factor is a big plus

But IMO there is one minor difference from the NES that change the gameplay a lot
On the NES, if you target a monster that is already dead, you'll miss the hit, there is not any auto targeting
So you have to think in battle about how to attack, and make calculation on how many hits a monster can take before going down, if you constantly press A without paying attention, you will probably die
In this version, they auto correct, and if a monster happen to die and you have another character that hit that same target, it will hit the next monster instead, so you can do battle mindlessly pressing A and not even paying attention

In short, the battle system have been downgraded a lot IMO just with this simple mechanic
The game is less immersive because you have to pay less attention to it
If this isn't to complicated to put in, I think there should be an option to make that possible, but I understand why they did this ... nobody do this nowadays for a reason

Anyways, that's my opinion but I haven't completed the game yet, so maybe there is a new game+ with that mechanic or something, and probably a mod will eventually happen to do that too at some point

It's an old game ... don't expect much from the graphics ... but it stand the test of time IMO
I really enjoy the GOGOGO BOUM RATATATATTA BOOM BOOM BOOM ... KABOOM ... PAF PAF PAF RATATATATAATA BOOM ...
That's pretty much what you'll heard .. but it's great, some soldiers say random stuff badly acted. but it's ok
This game is more about the gameplay and the overall heart that was put into it
Graphics are still ok IMO ...
Gameplay is very nice ... They really try to make you feel that you are not alone

This game easily deserve the asking price if you enjoy this genre ... even more for the nostalgia
