This game is good, but I'm writing this because it's incredibly annoying seeing how misleading so many of the positive reviews of this game are. The game is being recommended to people with mindless meme drivel or implications that its just a simulator of playing as a cute and small creature in a big world. I've been asked by friends if the game even has an ending, because the way people talk about this game completely obscures what it actually is.

Rain World is a stress-inducing journey through an abandoned civilization brimming with danger. This game combines somewhat precise platforming with unusual controls, aggressive and intelligent enemies with fairly one-dimensional combat abilities, and a massive interconnected world of infrequent checkpoints with a dynamic time limit. The game only tells you how to utilize those sparse checkpoints and offers occasional directional guidance. Otherwise, you are on your own. The odds are greatly stacked against you, and as such you will certainly die, over and over again.
But as you explore the world further, become comfortable with the unique controls and the combat, get used to the time limit for each of your daily outings, you begin to feel immersed within the dynamic world the game offers. You will find yourself wondering about the history of this wrecked world you've been wandering through, or wondering what the function of each unique area was in the now abandoned civilization-- how the world all comes together in one big picture-- as I did in my first journey through Rain World.
The feelings of discovery you will experience in Rain World are rarely matched in gaming, and I think that is truly something special. You will suffer as you explore the interconnected world, meeting new dangers around every corner, and that experience of the cruel indifference of nature becomes almost euphoric. It's quite rare to feel truly small and weak in a video game, yet Rain World perfectly captures that experience and something about it was really revelating for me. Despite the capabilities offered by the unique controls, your brain will be your greatest ally as your traverse Rain World. Whether it is outsmarting dangers, finding the best pathing through an area, or discovering a previously unknown mechanic to you, you will certainly experience that great feeling of overcoming the insurmountable.
That, I believe, is the experience Rain World seeks to induce in its players. Overcoming. Learning. Surviving. Against all of the odds stacked against you in a massive, cruel world.

I recommend Elden Ring as a great open world game overflowing with content, combined with souls-like combat and fantastic boss fights. However, I feel that this game suffers slightly from "Dark Souls 2 syndrome," where quantity is sometimes valued over quality. Expect many repeated encounters.
