The Combat? Frantic and enjoyable, have you ever felt like having a power-trip with a flamethrower and burning a horde of roaches to ashes? Or maybe having a valiant last stand after your ship leaves orbit and your ammo reserves slowly get whittled away. The Super-Arsenal of Super-Earth comes packed with a bunch of fun toys for your Helldiver to use to liberate the galaxy from tyranny, all that's missing are melee weapons that take up the pistol slot but hey, that's neither here-nor-there.

The Progression? Well, let me start off by saying that HD2 has a battlepass system -- BUT -- before you groan and wander off, You can actually earn ALL content(except for the deluxe edition stuff) in the game through playing. The game contains a premium shop where you spend super-credits, but you can find them on missions and they are shared with the whole team, so you very can quickly acquire the battlepasses if you play enough. Items and armors are unlocked primarily with Medals, which are given out to players by completing Helldives, completing missions assigned to players by the gamemaster(Love you Joel), and you can occasionally loot them on Helldives aswell. You can also find three different tiers of samples which are used to upgrade your Helldiver's ship, but these admittedly are unlocked pretty slowly due to the sample requirements. All-in-all, there's plenty of content to progress through and work towards, and more continues to be added.

The Community? Not much to say aside from it being great! The people are friendly and funny, Given that its a PvE game too, you don't find the typical ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ crowd you find in competitive games, so its common to have high level players helping out newbies and letting them use advanced gear to get a better grip on the game. Also the memes for HD2 are ♥♥♥♥♥♥' FIRE.

The Graphics and sound? The game looks and sounds fantastic, the atmosphere presented when combining both of those really does just suck you into the game and time can fly away. My only gripe is that OCCASIONALLY its hard to tell when certain Terminids are actually dead, but its certainly not a consistent issue.

The Developers? Arrowhead Game Studios is made up of some lovely people, You can tell they are genuinely dedicated to improving their game and care about the player experience, rather than just viewing players as an endless income source. In their discord they polls pretty often to get the community consensus on different things and tweak their game accordingly. They also have taken great care in treating their Live-Service game as an actual evolving product with changes in the in-game world according to the decisions made by the community, instead of just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ out a battle-pass every 6 months and calling it good.

So... after all that, why the negative review? Well, the publisher of HD2, the notoriously unhackable and secure company Sony decided that despite purchasing the game on steam you are required to use a PSN account to play this game, and this decision was apparently always a thing they simply disabled it at launch and didn't mention anything about it. Now, for some this isn't a problem at all, but for others you can't even make a PSN account depending which country you live in. This strikes me as both unnecessary and incredibly scummy to do months after the games launch.

I don't mind updating my review if this decision is rolled back, but the PSN requirement was not listed on the steam-page anywhere and I have no intention of creating a PSN account, so if the decision ISNT rolled back, I may end up attempting to purse a refund. (Whelp sony pulled back for now, good job community! Lets see how long it takes for them to try something else sneaky)

What a banger of a surprise drop this is, but I'm sure you've already heard something about this game - hell its even already made it to the top of the steam charts and its been out for less than a week, so let me throw out some opinions and read on and see if this game suits you;

If you're a Pokemon fan, you may or may not have been disappointed with the franchise's latest releases, and while this may not have the evolutions and trainer battles you crave, it certainly scratched that cool and cute animal collector itch for me.

If you're a fan of Ark, this game has a very similar gameplay loop - harvest mats, fight beasties(Pals), level up to increase your stats and unlock new technology, repeat. I believe the devs are also working towards implementing PVP, which will increase the "Arkness" tenfold.

If you're a gamer whose been burned year after year buying $40, $50, $60, and now even $70 games, rest assured in knowing that this game, despite being in early access, shows a considerable amount of polish and has quite a bit of content, for the low low price of $30. If you follow the dollar-per-hour guideline, you can easily hit and surpass that ratio with this game. Whats more worth it, 1 copy of Starfield, or 3 copies of Palworld? They have about the same amount of content, but one is still being developed AND has multiplayer.

You may have also heard some of the grumblings on the internet that inevitably follow when anything in this cut-throat industry gains success, there's plenty of developers out there shilling their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ opinions mirroring the events that followed Baldur's Gate 3's release - Ignore them, they are pissed that such a simple yet lovable game has gained so much traction, and heres hoping it'll spur them (I'm imaging game-freak and Nintendo, but you can imagine whichever company you deem fit) into action again. Some people are even so salty they are trying to claim the game outright steals Pokemon designs and used AI to produce the pals, Afaik, this game has been in development for like 3-4 years or so, which makes it older than the current AI craze we've seen over the last year. As for Pokemon designs being stolen, sure there's some resemblance, but that's because just like Pokemon, it uses real animals for inspiration for the most part. Believe it or not, this world is large enough for there to be multiple fantasy games with weird penguin things and it not be considered "ripping off Pokemon".

Seriously, see what the hype is about, its a great game and it deserves support from us customers.

On one hand, late game exploration is something Stellaris has been severely lacking in since it came out, This DLC barely scratches that itch. It introduces some Astral thread "mechanics"(Yet again archaeology with a different coat of paint) that don't have much impact and by and large are just more things to activate every 10 years for temp modifiers. The actual "threads" themselves don't feel like they hold that much weight or interest behind them, you'd think a DLC themed around late-game exploration of where reality itself starts to unwind would have some more engaging content to go with this new premise, Granted in my current run I've only done 8 of the 30 or so available, but they certainly haven't been memorable in anyway. A handful of new civics are introduced, which I do actually like quite a bit for thematic and play-style variety purposes. You also get another hydraulically pressed, almost AI-generated looking species portrait, so if that's up your alley there's that.

Ive been in favor of PDX DLC releases pretty universally, but cmon guys, This costs as much as other major expansions, with a third of the content ANDDDDD its broken on release *again*. I can't wait to see custodian dev-logs about updating this dlc in 1 year.

A very well made little autobattler, it has such a fantastic strategic layer aswell that makes every match quite enjoyable, while delivering a random element through the different cards that you and your opponent get to pick from each round. Also you can just go into it SORT OF with a build in mind and just try to have fun and more often than not it can work.

Regardless of what anybody says Crawlers are the greatest unit in the game and the only reason its not working is because you dont have Super Heavy Crawlers (or enough crawlers in general)

Crawlers should have a jumping upgrade that follow the arc of storm's artillery, and can be shot down by mustangs.

What a brutally fantastic game. Managing your Bros is so enjoyable, you can take them down all sorts of skill routs and builds, theres plenty of gear(Both mundane and legendary) to find, it has a vibrant modding community, very fitting and gritty graphics, plenty of different starting choices to spice up your runs, and this is all before downloading the legends mod.

Legends will upgrade your BB experience to BB2.0!

The devs have done amazing work with this project and they deserve all your money and support.

Its been over a month since this game got multiplayer and I was gifted it, my friends have been able to play, I was able to play sporattically enough to get to level 12, but I was CONSTANTLY disconnected and unable to reconnect for days at a time. I made a help request on their official forums and have still not received a reply. Updates have come out too, and i've tried after each update multiple times, and still no luck.

I would avoid this if your purchasing it strictly for multiplayer, atleast until they've ironed out their issues.

This is like the Terraria of Zombie games, It just keeps on giving, and its really truly a gift that keeps on giving. The Devs are constatnly adding new and radical stuff, and the modding community does some amazing work with the platform they were given.
