Supposedly, they walked back on the mandatory PSN account.

They've added not one, but two log sleds now. The game is now playable.

But for real, this is an early, early access version of the game and it should be approached as much. Content is likely missing, some features missing as well, but this is obviously not going to be the case forever. The game will evolve overtime. So far it's a fun experience, just remember it's unfinished and to have fun with it.

My hopes weren't extraordinarily high for this release, I followed it back in 2017 when quite a few people, me included, thought it was a scam. Six years later here it is. The first impressions were very, very rough.

First thing I noticed was that the screen felt zoomed in and looking around in the reviews this is being explained by a low FOV of around 55 without the option of a slider in any settings. This part is somewhat subjective to some, but I feel like it should be a standard practice to at least include the option to increase one's FOV.

The sound design felt off as well, made it quite difficult for me to get into the experience. Often times it would feel that things lacked impact. The sounds of explosions were next to non-existent and lumbering metal behemoths that crash to the earth made the sound of a feather that had gently drifted to the ground. The voice acting combined with the dialogue is...
Odd. To say the least. It gave the atmosphere of a light-hearted comedy, and while I haven't quite played enough to understand quite what this game would like to go for, I know it would bug some people enough that it's worth mentioning. The dialogue was off as well, though that might be due to translation.
The protagonist seems to be an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ as well, though I didn't play long enough to see if there's any character development in store.

The art direction, which honestly is what grabbed my attention to this game back in 2017, is phenomenal. Lovely, great, good, nice. Not much to say here, it's simply very good. World and enemy design are great. Graphic fidelity is nice as well. Playing on maximum settings, the lighting is lovely and most of the texture work is solid as well. Nothing groundbreaking, but still very pleasant to look at. There are a handful of visual glitches, and while that sort of thing doesn't bother me too much, I know others might take issue with it.

Gameplay at the moment of this review, and with what limited time I had with it before the solid cutoff for a refund arrived, did not feel the best. Movement felt janky and combat felt floaty and at times disorienting. Melee had little satisfying feedback, even with it's heavier swings.

If you're still on the fence about getting it after this read, try it and just keep an eye on the time, you might like the game anyways. I might come back in a few months or a year to see if any if this changes, but for now these are my feelings on the game.

I'm sorry, but I can't recommend the base game in good faith. The game itself, at the moment of writing this, is fine. A fun concept, an enjoyable game play loop for those who enjoy the survival crafting genre, as well as plenty of zombie goodness.
My main concern is the dev team themselves and a seemingly anti-player mentality they employ with updates. The next update will feature an overhaul in it's water mechanics, making the traders integral to the game-loop even more than they are now since water filters will basically only be obtainable through them. In addition to that, it will make certain play styles much less viable. These concerns have been brought up on forums, to which the reply has been rather dismissive with suggesting that they should simply stop playing the way they are now, and play the way that the developers want them to.

There's videos and likely other reviews that go into this in depth more than I will, but it certainly is something to think about if you're thinking of adding this to your library. However, you can in fact play previous versions easily, and the modding community for this game is rather extensive. If you're on the fence, I would recommend this game due to the modding scene.
Hopefully my worries are misplaced, and if they are I'll be coming back to this page to straighten things out.

Good game that I don't enjoy

I got this game today. I have played 10 hours in about one sitting, and only stopping so I can sleep. This game is dwarf fortress, but without the user hostile interface. Sure, it looses out on a tad of the complexity that dwarf fortress has, but this game will never overwhelm you, and it still is complex enough to keep your attention. A really solid gem here.

Its good.

You see the playtime. 300 of those hours were vanilla. The rest are modded. If you get bored, install a ♥♥♥♥ ton of mods.

The launcher will not launch after 1.0 if you have windows 7. Fix the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. Its been three months.

My god this game is fun. You can take your favorite gun and turn it into somthing you like more. You can make your personal player model. You can MURDER other people that have done this.


It was worth the 5 bucks.
