Early Access Review
The game is much better now, with a balanced meta that is adjusted every week to keep the game fresh. Community feedback is listened to, and card acquisition is being worked on.

Overall very happy with this game and I hope to see more from it.

Never before have I gotten beaten this down this hard and still constantly return to the very game that dished out said beating. Slay the Spire is a wonderful deckbuilding strategy roguelike, with infinite complexity. Figuring out to solve problems and prepping for your next fight have almost infinite potential, and getting that one run that feels unstoppable feels fantastic.

While the main story is extremely short (I finished in ~20 hours with all side quests done), the gameplay is super streamlined and I can see the game is very good design wise. While the story is lacking and there are issues with DLC/mouse configs, I personally loved the game and could appreciate the challenge that a different play style might take. I personally went with a hacker/non-lethal character, with cloaking. There might be too much Praxis reward as I could invest in a lot of augmentation trees I wasn't expecting to be able to fit into my build.

All in all a solid game, not amazing but very good. 7/10

Oh boy here we go.
This game is great.

Almost everything can be bought with in-game currency, or through random drop cases. 100 hours in, I've gotten 2 silvers, a gold, and a cobalt; as well as bought 3 different mercs. This was done just by playing, so the whole paying cash for the rare cases/mercs thing isn't worth it really.

In-game currency is easily obtainable, characters are somewhat balanced, and team play is really good, since everyone's spawned in waves. Every team needs an ammo guy, a healer, and objective specialist to be successful, and I really like that. One person can't make or break a team, you always need to work together.

The hacking problem aside, this game is a ton of fun for me. Only thing I wish could be implemented would be trading loadout cards and reverse crafting (e.g. 1 gold = 3 random silvers)

Would recommend.

You look like you could use a pork bun!
After all, a man without a pork bun is not a whole man!

I'll be honest, it lost its charm after the first few run throughs of every heist.
Everything is extremely methodical and scripted.
Stealth missions: Kill the guards, kill the camera guy, kill the civis.
Shadow Raid: Kill the camera guy, loot.
Loud missions: If you're doing anything other than Proverkill Hox Breakout, you're wasting your time.
The smaller missions aren't rewarding, DLC costs an arm and a leg, and the infamy system is basically a grindfest to see who can level faster. I don't really care for it. My account sits at level 100, and I like that. Staying OP and only playing whenever friends want to.

Even then it's kinda bland. Lag can be extremely bad sometimes, especially with friends with bad internet. Client side makes it weird, since I use mumble for comms. Someone will yell they're down, but on my screen they don't go down for another solid 15 seconds.

Overall, this game was fun, definitely worth $5. More than that? Not really. It'd be a lot better if players could trade masks, mask materials, colors, guns, gun mods, etc. One big struggle for me is that I can't get decent colors for my masks, and RNG drop system keeps giving me pistol mods at the end of every heist. I don't want to spend 15 minutes to get something I don't want.

Should you buy it? Sure, if it's on sale. Is the DLC worth it? Probably necessary. On deathwish difficulty, it's basically impossible to play without someone with a sniper taking out shields.

It's been fun, but my wallet enjoys being used on other things, and not this overhyped grindfest of a bag tossing simulator.
