This is well on track to being my favorite game of all time. It combines all of my favorite things. Souls-like combat, ARPG loot goblin-ing, and hyperstylized art. This is what I've always wanted.

I'm going to school for game design and was recently feeling sort of down about it. I wasn't particularly excited with many of the games being released and was worried that creativity was sorta beginning to lag out of the industry. Inscryption blew my mind. It 100% reinspired me to continue with game design. This game is a masterpiece. Do yourself a favor and play it.

Dark Souls III was my first introduction to my now-favorite game series. Consider this review less of an review of DS3 itself and rather a review of the series in its entirety. Yes, even DS2 (Which happens to be my favorite of the three). Dark Souls is a masterclass in storytelling. The way the narrative is explored is incredibly unique. Everything of import is hidden in cryptic dialogue, item descriptions, and environment design, and is ultimately up to the player to uncover the story of Lordran, Drangleic, and Lothric.

This methodology of storytelling mirrors the gameplay almost symbolically. In the same way a soulslike does not hold your hand through combat, a soulslike does not hold your hand through the story. It is up to you to discover the story for yourself, and you can easily play the entire game without following a single narrative thread. I think its amazing that the game allows that, because the player that seeks out the lore is rewarded with layers and layers of fantastic worldbuilding.

If you are nervous about jumping into Dark Souls (1,2,3) because of the intimidating combat, just know that if you care at all about a beautiful, deep, emotional story; the hardship makes uncovering it all the more worth it.

This game is seriously good. I'm talking great amounts of goodness right here. This game was so hard at first I couldn't walk 5 ft. without breaking both my legs and drowning in a pile of my own barf on the dungeon floor from inhaling too much ether. Then you get into a rhythm. You start actually figuring out how the game works and how ruthless the combat is. After you spend time learning the strategies and skills, you'll feel unstoppable. That is until you run into a random ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ trap and bleed to death because you KNOW YOU SHOULD HAVE GOT THE MEDICINE SKILL WHEN YOU HAD THE CHANCE AND YOU HAD NO BANDAGES. Ahem.. excuse me. Anyways this game is great. It's going to continue to be great. I would give them money on kickstarter if I had money to give.

Also: Rest mode is your only friend.

It looks as though I haven't played any of the game, but that's because I played and finished it on my ps4. Never in my life have I ever been so emotionally attached to a set of fictional characters. Even more so than The Last of Us. Once you finish the game, it hardly leaves your head. You'll see things in the real world and think of Max or Chloe or one of the songs from the game. This is a hard game to describe, so I'll just leave it here. Life is indeed strange.

This game is fantastic. It's so good. The artstyle, funny dialoge, interesting environments, and BEARDS just give it such a unique charm. I totally recommend it.

Here are a few things that could make it even better:

Random Events: We already have stuff like falling stalactites and swarms, but just think of all the possibilities. Caveins, sinkholes, explosions, and other stuff to increase immersion and hinder your quest in the best way possible.

Biome Specific Bugs: Most of the bugs are reaccuring and there are some that are specific to each environment, but imagine a massive red crystal bug as a "boss fight" in the salt environment. Just some ideas.

Ruins: I don't mean ruins in the sense of lost civilizations but more as like previous mining expeditions gone wrong. For example, there could be the bones and the corpses of old dwarves and overgrown supply drops. THis would totally add the immersion this game already has.

This is just some food for thought for the devs. I recommend this game to the fullest.
