This has to be one of the most powerful and moving games I've ever played. It's an experience I've never seen replicated. The story is incredibly powerful and makes a lot of important statements, the OST is one of the most beautiful compositions I've ever heard, the characters will make you fall in love with them, and the graphics are gorgeous even bumped down (I needed to because I have an old PC)

My only grievence is that it is mechanically very messy BUT
DO NOT LET THAT STOP YOU FROM PLAYING THE GAME
Even with the quirks, it's easy to overcome them and once you get a handle of the controls the mechanics are a mild annoyance at best. Everything else about this game makes up for it's shortcomings.

This mod is a FANTASTIC addition to the series. I constantly forget it's a fanmade mod because it looks almost exactly like the original game. When people say it's hard, they mean it, BUT it should be mentioned that despite it's difficulty the game is still very beatable. Your brain might be mush after, but it's possible. I also appreciate that the game has just as much sass as the OG with the pre-recorded messages. I think it's pretty funny.

There isn't as much story (so far, I should clarify that I haven't beaten it yet because I keep playing at like 2am which is a mistake), but there's *plenty* of theory ammo if you're into it like me. Overall, give it a shot - it's 110% worth it.

Ok, I feel like this is a must play for anyone who enjoys an interesting story line, creative art style, realistic dialouge and voice acting, lovable characters and an over all good experiance. One thing worth mentioning is that Oxenfree is more of a playable story. There are numerous endings which lends the game to having quite a bit of replay value. I love this game.

Now that that's out of the way, on to the more indepth review. (No spoilers, just tips and opinions. Even the things I marked as spoilers give nothing away about the story or endings. They're just things I thought might be helpful, but that some people may not want to know. I'm sort of a spoiler freak, and even the slightest tiniest "spoiler" I want nothing to do with)

Some important things to know
  1. The story tends to be a little hard to follow at first. The story is reveled as you continue, but it's easy to miss if you get your timing down wrong. There are times where you need to wait and listen to the conversation, and sometimes the conversation choice bubbles dissappear too quickly. What I ended up doing is pausing if I needed to think about my choice, you just hit escape.
  2. The game gives you the basic controls, but it took me a bit to figure some or it out. Here's a tip for keyboard. Use shift to interact whenever there are floating words or a little circle over something , move with wasd, radio is left shift, and map is left control, left click with the mouse for converation bubbles, I can't help with controller controls. Side Note: pay attention to all rock stacks, they tell huge pieces of the story! Use your radio to trigger them, just be patient.
  3. There are times when there isn't a clear outcome to your choices (which to me is actually a part of the game, but I know it annoys some people). That being said, my suggestion is to playthough the first time completely blind , don't look up walkthroughs until after you finish it. Then you can look and see what you want to change in your next playthrough.
  4. Every thing you do is important, converation is harder to judge. If it seems like its important, it probably is. Pay attention to your choices and conversation options as well...
  5. The visual style of the game, I think, is perfect. It can be kind of hard to judge what's actually there though, *cough* *cough* like the rock stacks *cough*, but it gives off the perfect mood for the game. Side note: Hey there, I gotchu ;D Have an awesome day!
  6. Don't be afraid to make choices, the game can be replayed and reset so if you don't like an outcome try again. Also, the game saves everytime you enter a new area, you can't manually save. So feel free to use that when you're playing... ;) Side note: pay attention to the reflections in the mirror and water. They're not just non-sense, but actual advice.--(real spoiler)--> Actual advice from actual players
  7. You have to play it more than once. Don't worry about all the achievements on your first playthrough, when you're on your second playthrough you can achievement hunt.

I haven't played a game that I loved this much in a very long time. I definitely believe that its worth the $20, you can beat it all in one day, but the replay value makes it worth it. If you can get it on sale though, definitely do that. I got it for about $12. I had no idea what to expect when I got this game, but it was 100% worth it. It's a sort of thriller game, there are some horror aspect, but not enough to keep you from playing. I don't usually do horror games and I was totally fine with this one. It's a bit slow but the intense scenes make it all worth it, just stick with it. My favorite part is the character dynamics. As a God figure, you have so much power and control. It kept me on the edge of my seat in anticipation the whole way through, I never got bored. My rating, 10/10 frequencies, reward... you'll just have to play and see ;)

This game is so good. I already beat the pacifist route and the neutral route, I am absolutly dreading the genocide route. This game has done so much to my heart. It presents a challenge at time, espcially durring your first playthrough, but doesn't make the game impossible to beat or enjoy. The chracters have so much depth, the relationships you build or destroy are so strong, and the stroyline is flawless. Undertale gives players so much to explore and it makes you want to keep playing. I can't reommend it enough. It's worth the $10 and even more undeniably purchasable on sale.
