Comparing this game to EDF is a disservice. Do not be fooled, this game is as poor quality as everyone else says.

Yeah, uh, no. Entire dev team fired by greedy higher ups, again? Let this sleeping dog lie.

Not for anyone who enjoys actually playing a video game. You'll spend 80% or more of your time playing faffing about trying to get places or on the floor taking massive damage. At least the server issues are gone, supposedly.

Lmao they gave out over a 100 dollars' worth of premium cosmetic currency to XBox players, but gave us literally nothing.

I'm gonna jump on the "Elite Dangerous is approaching the end of its lifespan, buying now is a waste of time and money" bandwagon. It's obvious that FDev either does not have the resources to actually fix this game, or they consciously make the decision to divert the resources to their other titles, which apparently they had idk. I can say for certain a lot of us didn't know that FDev even had other games until we tried applying logic to how Elite could have been managed and designed this poorly, and then discovered their other games. Did you know they have a shooter title?

Anyway, console support being dropped and VR support being a 99% lie don't affect me since I'm not part of those communities. However, it should go without saying that FDev dropping support for MULTIPLE major platforms (if you count every console individually, plus VR) is shady at best and downright malicious for the game at worst. Especially when they've announced that they just straight up will not fix repetitive planet generation now that they only have one platform to worry about. Ironically, this communication is leagues above what we've gotten for the past few years. Yes, even when Braben said something about running Odyssey fine on a GTX 980. (You're joking. We have reported performance issues with 3090s. You can't make this **** up.)

Other reviews have all you need to know about the game itself and I find it mind-numbing to end up repeating them verbatim, since all of the issues talked about are the same, because nothing really has changed for years. Obviously that doesn't make them any less terrible, especially given the above context. I'll repeat them real quick anyway: grindy game mechanic, on top of another grindy game mechanic. Poor performance and optimization. It's a telling sign when a lot of positive reviews recommend spending a significant portion of playtime tabbed into another program.

This game's Mixed rating is held up only by meme reviews, "Nobody reads this review, so" and other extremely short "is gud" type of positive reviews. I have no doubt that if all of those reviews go away, including some shorter negative reviews just to be "fair", the game would still hit at least Mostly Negative.

Despite being a free game, no one will check the box saying that this product was received for free. While it's probably just that it takes a conscious choice and ultimately means nothing, and that it's more telling to just write the review, the other potential reason is that there is nothing to do without any of the DLCs. You are playing a free demo, not a free game. There is NOTHING.

This was a game that should not even have been made to begin with. There was no "good ol days" of Destiny 2. It was never really good, but even "kind of okay" is a standard too high for Bungie to keep.
In retrospect, Forsaken is overrated. The fact that they chose to kill off the only character any amount of people even remotely cared for maximum shock value is not a stroke of writing genius, but that no one would have cared less if literally anyone else was killed. I believe this close shave to be a fluke, and would point to a particular fakeout death in Beyond Light, and two specific deaths in Lightfall as evidence that there truly was no real brain behind Forsaken, just a small wisp of pride someone once had in the work they displayed to the public. Or a stroke of fortune rather than genius. Yeah, yeah, different writing team maybe, but it paints a telling downhill trend of quality.

And I am sure just about every recent negative review mentions the firing fiasco of recent. I hardly need explain how depraved this makes Bungie out to look. Merry Christmas, you poor bastards.

Just like Bungie firing its employees in such a frivolous manner and leaving them with basically nothing, there is nothing here for you. Just some soulless voices, a meaningless grind, a reminder of things you weren't here for, and an aching for a time that never existed in this franchise's lifespan.

Go pass over this shell of a product, and treat yourself to something nice.
Merry Christmas, and let your holidays be happy, free from this travesty.

9.1 hrs last two weeks
6/9/21 - 6/10/21
9.1 hours was just me trying to get this broken game to let me log in. 9.1 hours was me trying to figure out why this nonfunctioning game stutters like mad while task manager reports spikes that never reach 60% usage, if at all, of any resource. 9.1 hours was me realizing that, like just about every game released in the past two to three years, is a sorry excuse that can only be labeled as "Early Access" and "We're Working On It." Word of mouth suggests JP has SIGNIFICANTLY less issues than NA. This isn't even a JP vs NA thing, this is a "You marketed a dysfunctional game" thing, because if this rig can handle BDO on Remastered graphics but not this without stuttering every 1-5 seconds on LOWEST POSSIBLE SETTINGS, you've gone and threw your face into the very keyboard you coded this program on.
Better hope you have a god rig or paid some service to host games for you, because this ran worse than Cyberpunk on day one. At least CP2077 was PLAYABLE.

EDIT 6/13
Server lag loosened up because a large amount of people stopped playing NGS for the obvious reasons. Stutter and optimization issues caused by.... installing PSO2NGS to an external SSD. Moved to internal and works fine now. ???
