It pretty much killed itself when they decided to cut off Base PSO2. The amount of people that still defend NGS when the game is barebones as it is baffling tbh. If you just wanna play a dress up simulator where you have to grind meseta 24/7 or swipe your credit card this game's for you. If you're gonna play the game seriously just try out the base game that's pretty much left in maintenance mode, there are still people left there that will genuinely try to help others. If you plan on playing NGS for the sake of being a dress-up doll just learn how to use a 3D modelling software like Blender, you'll have more fun and be able to make your own big tiddy goth anime waifu without wasting your time or money.

Play the game if you want to, its free, why not. I don't know about this anti-cheat nonsense, all anti-cheat stuff are scum. Though I did use it as an excuse to not update and uninstall the game, but that's just ME. Do it if you want to, not like reviews are going to stop you installing the game if you really wanted to. Like people say "Now is the best time to start playing" well of course, if you haven't played the game before. Any time is the "best" time.



If you want a game to play house and dress up doll, this (NGS) is the game for you. Spend the 20 million Meseta for the colossal boobs accessory and the 10 million for an emote and stand in Central City for hours. Don't forget to not spend any of your "hard earned" meseta on equipment, just let the people who are actually trying to find combat in the game do all the hard work. And don't forget this very important thing: the less cloth the clothing has, the more meseta it'll sell for... Just go play Honey Select, dude. Get your jollies jingled with that...

Jokes aside; 85ish% of my playtime is from base, I have more racked up on MS store, since I waited for PSO2 for years, I jumped on it when it global released. 90% of the people I played with dropped the game 6 months into NGS release and haven't come back, hell, some Youtubers/streamers I've watched, dropped the game when NGS released too. I've been running on copium/hopium for the past year. FOMO is a hell of a drug, but I started to question what am I missing out on? Limited time quests aren't really that interesting, no special bosses and clothing doesn't interest me, I'm still using stuff from base.

I wonder, should I stay for story? Nah, I stopped caring about it when they tried to have this emotional or whatever moment in the Dark Falz UQ with that dude I don't know pushing your character, dude was in the game for 5min, why are they trying to paint him like a mentor. I cared more about Haddred and he doesn't talk. And no, the ending to the episode wasn't interesting to me either because I just have this feeling they're going to drop the turd on that in the future too.

I'm not a fan of the way this game is being run, they're treating it like base without taking into account that it's not base. So fields feel empty and i'm not talking about players, I'm talking about the feeling of running around there, you see camps, but no NPCs that sort of thing. Not to worry though, there will be another scratch every 2 weeks so you can dress your character up... they'll never miss a scratch, but screw you people wanting combat/story type stuff.

Combat is fine, sound is fine, music is great, visuals are good. Community... ain't gon say nuffin, just search up #PSO2 on twitter and look at tweets, that's what it is now. and if you give valid criticism they'll just trash you without trying to understand it.

I hard recommend base when it was the only thing up, but since base is on maintenance mode, I can't.
NGS I can't recommend either since it kinda sucks when I actually start thinking about it.

but if you're going to play the game, yeah play base too, there are still people who play it (On Ship 2, don't know about the other ships) they'll help, I think... I hope. I haven't been on in a hot minute.

Again, Do what you want, play if you want (I'll say that every damn time). As someone who grew up on Phantasy Star, I'll most likely reinstall it again later, because I actually want a happy ending to this downfall, I want a comeback story.

Please, SEGA.

There's just.......nothing to do in NGS.

A lot of the content released over the past 2 years have been limited quests, or new scratches. If there wasn't a roadmap I'd honestly think this game was on life support with community creations like TF2 currently is. It's depressing too, considering how enjoyable base PSO2 could be.

It's been 2 years, we're barely out of the first part of the story. We're getting "major" updates every 2-3 months, with maybe one or two new pieces of content, and that's It.

Play it for playing base PSO2, NGS is fine but I'd not say it's worth your time anymore, at least until the devs get up off their asses and start making proper updates again.

Also, Xingcode3 has recently been implemented. But if you still wish to play and not worry about that, you can use the old gameguard anticheat by going into the launchers settings and ticking the box that says "Security compatibility mode"
