I made it 4 seconds into actual gameplay, saw how you had to control your character and uninstalled. This game is literally built for ipads. Don't bother.

7k+ hour vet (over numerous accounts) here.

Do NOT play this game. Scroll down for juicy drama.

This game's subscription is charged per character slot, instead of per player. I say this because the game intentionally launched with only 1 character per account, and the devs adamantly REFUSED to allow us to merge our accounts or at the very least, link them together so we can pay for a single, unified subscription. In this game it can take months and months to get a specialized, niche character online, like, for example, any class that uses etherworld portals. It can also cost insane amounts of gold. Every character "archetype" plays VERY differently than than the last, and so if you want to use one account, you're limited from trying new archetypes unless you decided to throw away everything you've built and reroll, or buy a new account.

I'm personally a huge fan of many different styles of play in this game, and because of the devs choices, I was forced to buy more than 5 accounts to play them all, and as far as I'm concerned I paid $40 per character slot. Now the devs want to charge me monthly PER CHARACTER, instead of providing means to unify your characters.

I knew this was coming. I posted on the forums, I posted on the discord, I reached out to the CM and the devs directly, numerous times and expressed my concerns, which were flatly ignored. I'm not paying $100+ per month to play this game, and I'm not playing it if I'm going to be limited in the characters I play. I'm punished by the developers for being such a fan of this game that I own multiple characters.

Subscription drama aside, lets get into some juicy stuff.

Community: This game has the highest concentration of mentally ill players per capita out of any game I've ever played. It is pure, distilled insanity. These players are not sane. At absolute best, they're tribalistic narcissists, at worst, they're literal neo-nazis. There is currently a guild in the game called Beastmasters, that guild name isn't in reference to the taming mechanics, it's a reference to what they think of people of color and their "place" in society. This guild also runs a discord where they maintain a list of women, minorities and "sympathizers" within the community, and they call this list a "Night of the Long Knives list". The leader of the largest alliance in the game currently (and since MO1) can be found on a UK s*x offender registry. There's a guild that holds weekly meetings where they talk about how women deserve to be assaulted. This community is so far from mentally healthy it should honestly be quarantined from the rest of the planet.

We're still waiting for features we were promised 3 years ago. Permanent ritual tables, an absolutely crucial furniture item, has been MIA since the release of the necromancy school, in July of 2022. Pet armor is still missing from countless animals in the game, speaking of, we don't even have all the animals the game was supposed to have, we're missing River Prowers, Lykiators, and a ton of crucial animals. It's taken them over a year to push out the elementalism magic school, which is STILL missing the "entities" sub-skill. Territory Control siege weapons placed on roofs of defensive structures cannot be loaded from inside the structure, meaning you have to leave the structure (you will die), loot ammo from a siege tent (that will be destroyed), make it back inside (you won't, and if the door opens everyone inside will die) and carry it to the roof to load a Ballista or Catapult, both of which are great "equalizer" weapons in siege defenses, but aren't actually functional as defensive weapons because of this, so if a giant zerg wants to take out your structure, they just do, and you can't stop them.

Cheaters. The CEO of this game, Henrik, told us in beta that "exploit early, exploit often" would not be a thing. Well, it is. There is an absolutely massive amount of duped/cheated gold and valuable materials in this game, and the only people that get punished are the accounts (not players) that do the duping, cheating, or injecting, which means everyone who cheats just does it on a $4 south american alt account (yes steam, a ton of MO2 players commit fraud on your platform). If a player is caught cheating on their main account, like for example Wicked of the guild Nightfall, they have plenty of warning and are able to offload all their properties/banks to friends and alts before the ban kicks in. If I were to list every guild that harbors cheaters, I would hit the character limit in this review. One of the main dungeons in the game, the Necromancy dungeon, is completely, 100% run by a guild called Tianming that RMT's everything they farm. This guild cheats to ensure nobody but them is able to access the dungeon, and there's a reason why every RMT site on the internet is packed with necromancy dungeon exclusive stock. Guilds like OdinSeed and Content do the same thing but with the Minotaur dungeon and it's exclusive loot. Irrefutable proof of every type of cheating you can imagine gets published by the community every week, and nobody ever gets punished for it.

I could go on and on and on about this game, but I'm done typing. Do not play this game.

I have been playing this game for over 2 years now, and I can honestly say its a great MMO.

The combat is exceptional, no question about it, although the questing is a bit bland and standard.

Endgame in TERA consists of mostly of PvE content. PvP content still exists, but it is nowhere near as plentiful as PvE content. Dungeons in TERA are the most challenging of any MMO I've played. The trinity system is very much alive in this game, you need to do your job and you need to be able to rely on your teamates to complete the endgame dungeons. Most of the time, if 1 party member ♥♥♥♥♥ up its a wipe and you will probably start all over. if you want an example of the difficulty, the most recent dungeon, Dreadspire, is a 20 floor dungeon that gets harder for each floor you ascend to. That particular dungeon has been out for 3 months and NOBODY on my server (lake of tears) has cleared it yet, not even the most geared players.

Skill does play a big factor in this game. I personally have killed players who were wearing the top PvP gear in the game by being able to play my class better than they can play theirs, all while I was wearing a lower tier of PvP gear. As an example that this is possible here is a video of a player wearing a low tier of PvE gear killing a player wearing top tier PvP gear.

Is this game pay 2 win?
No not really. You can spend real money to buy costumes, mounts, RNG boxes, etc from the cash shop, and them sell those for in game gold to players. Personally, because of the fact that everything from the cash shop except cosmetics are easily available in game, and gold is easily obtainable, I do not consider this pay2win.
    Does this game sexualize females?
Sure it does, but before you go all SJW on my ass take into account that males are sexualized just as much as females in this game, and there are plenty of costumes available in game or via cash shop that arent very revealing. That whole argument is pretty stupid, grow the ♥♥♥♥ up tumblr.
    Is leveling boring?
It honestly depends on how you level. You can hit the level cap in 24 hours if you grind it out, but its not as enjoyable as questing and clearing dungeons. I DO NOT reccommend using one of the level 58 scrolls, because you will be at a disadvantage. Think of 1-65 as a giant tutorial on how to play your class, if you skip all that you will end up getting your ass kicked.
    Is this game grindy?
Sure it is, but compared to games like archeage, the grind is nothing. Its a korean MMO, so expect RNG and grind. Personally I like it, because I EARN my gear. The grind in this game rewards you well, and you feel like you acomplished something worthwhile after you reach your goal.
    Is crafting important?
Yes, very. Crafting is expensive to max out, but once you do it is a great way to make money, and the only way some endgame gearsets are made. Of course crafting itself is pretty standard, youbuy a recipe, learn it, gather all the mats, and auto craft the item at a forge.

This game is not for everybody, but if you try it out I implore you to stick with the game at least a week after hitting the level cap. This is one of those MMOs that opens up at endgame, and a chunk of players give up at lvl 40-50. Also remember that your class will be slow and clunky at first, but will become more fast and fluid at level cap.

This may be the most incredible single player RPG I have ever played.

CD Projekt Red has always produced quality content, and this game only reinforces that claim. I had high expectations, and CD Project Red did not just meet those expectations, they shattered them. Everything about this game is beyond great. From the visuals to the story to the combat to the dialogue, this game is a masterpeice.

Pros:

  • Amazing visuals. One of the most beautiful games I have ever played.
  • The music and audio is beyond fantastic. The combat music never fails to get my blood flowing, and the general ambient audio adds an immersion level that I never thought was possible to achieve
  • The combat is challenging and exhilarating. Do not expect to have your hand held duing combat. There aren't even any iframes!
  • The story is fantastic and well written. Ever got lost in a great adventure novel? Unable to put the book down and go to sleep because you need to know what happens next? The same will happen when playing Witcher 3.
  • Massive open world with (almost) no loading screens. Its true the world is seperated into zones, but those zones are MASSIVE. So massive in fact, that you will probably forget about loading screens for hours at a time.
  • Replayability. You beat the storyline for the first time? Great! Now do it 3 or 4 more times with different outcomes! The choices you make even at the beginning affect you at the end.
  • Content. The open world of this game is PACKED with stuff to do, from diving for treasure, uncovering hidden caches, slaying beasts much more powerful than you, to clearing wildlife from areas to allow the residents to move back in, and much, much more.
  • Questing is interesting and fun. Sure, some of the side quests are standard fetch quests, but they dont feel standard in the slightest. Honestly one of the best questing experiences ive ever taken part in.
  • DLC. CD Projekt Red will be releasing DLC for this game for free which is a really cool thing to do.

Cons:
  • Buggy. In an open world game like this, there's always going to be bugs, and this game is no exception. The worst I have experienced personally is nVidia driver crashes.
  • Proprietary nVidia technology. With Hairworks enabled, AMD users can expect a significant drop in FPS (there are fixes out there though). This game also relies on some gameworks libraries which blocks AMD from being able to optimize.
  • Hardware demanding. With Maximum visual settings enabled, i was pulling about 46fps on average with an i5-4670k @ 4.0GHz and 2 GTX 970s in SLI.

I can 100% recommend this game to anyone looking for a magnificent and immersive singleplayer experience, or a story driven RPG. You will not regret buying this game.

Literally my favorite shooter of all time. The game never gets old, the community is astounding, the characters are well-written, and the gameplay is always fun.

There are those that think TF2 is dead or all the people online are just sitting around trading, if you are one of those people, please direct your attention to:

http://store.steampowered.com/stats/

http://tf2center.com/

http://www.tf2pug.me/

http://www.ugcleague.com/

https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2

https://www.reddit.com/r/truetf2

And multiple other sites.

I have heard people call TF2 "pay 2 win", and that is simply not true. Actually, a good chunk of the time the stock weapons are better than weapons you get from drops/crates/etc. The weapons you can buy from the store can also come as drops, be purchased cheaply through trading through sites like scrap.tf (we are talking 2 weapons for 1 scrap, which is worth no more than 3 cents), or traded from friends or players in game. Those strange/killstreak/unusual items you get from crates? Those properties are purely cosmetic and give you absolutely no benefit in game.

Yes, TF2 can be competitive as well. Just because it's a silly game does not mean it can't be competitive. TF2 is possibly the most balanced game I have ever played, with a few exceptions (*cough loch'n'load cough*). These exceptions are usually banned in competitive via whitelists to make the gameplay fair for everybody. Every class/weapon has a counter.

While its true TF2 trading is dying out because of players moving to CS:GO trading, the game itself is not even close to dead.

TF2 has not been abandoned by valve. As a matter of fact, an Alien Invasion update will be upon us shortly, and no thats not conspiracy. This is the same way valve lead up to the MVM update which you can learn about Here . Thats not including the upcoming Spy vs Engineer update.

I can wholeheartedly reccomend this game to anyone who has not tried it, as it is a fantastic game and a great mulitplayer experience.

Early Access Review
More polished in Beta than most recent AAA games.

Seriously though, this game is FUN, I dont think ive had so much fun with an FPS in a while!

Quick summary:

Dedicated Servers, none of the p2p ♥♥♥♥.

If you want to stay alive, you HAVE to move, but you have to be able to hit moving targets at the same time.

There is more to the game than just moving and shooting, press F to play dead and escape from a firefight, or lie dead and spring up like a trap to unsuspecting players. Press Q to enable a temporary cloak (Maybe 3 Seconds?) and sneak up on your prey.

This game is a prime example of the beauty of Unreal Engine. The lighting, reflections, textures, particles, etc are all gorgeous. Honestly one of the most beautiful Unreal Engine games I've seen.

The music in this game is just perfect. When I first hopped into a match I didnt spawn just so I could hear the whole intro track, that dirty bass just fits the theme so well.

This game runs as smooth as warm butter (at least on my PC), I have had NO framedrop or performance issues whatsoever.

There are a few issues though:

  • The sensitivity slider is no joke.

  • There is no Borderless Window option, and sometimes it can take a few tries to get your settings to stick.

  • You cannot change options/settings while in a match, you have to leave the match entirely to change settings (unless maybe you can in the console, not sure though). FIXED

  • The game did crash once, but started up again with no problems.

  • Some of the weapons need a bit of rebalancing.

    1. Cerberus (Rocket Launcher) needs a damage nerf (He who owns the cerberus, owns the match) FIXED

    2. Raven (Basic Pistol) needs a fire rate boost

I can 100% reccomend this game to anyone looking for Quake/UT style fast-paced FPS arena action. Just remember that at this moment there is only 1 map and 8 guns.
