Dwarf Fortress is one of the most in-depth sandbox simulation games out there. If you've enjoyed any of the others you'll enjoy this one, and see where most of them drew their original inspiration.

Once you get to grips with the basic mechanics and begin watching your story unfold you'll be hooked.

Easiest recommend of my life.

A well made Groundhog Day type puzzle adventure.

I wouldnt say it was quite as intricate as say, The Sexy Brutale, but its fun if you like this type of game.

Best narrative I've seen in a game for a long time.

The gameplay is fun, the puzzles are fun, and the story... I wont spoil.

I highly recommend this

This game has one of the best stories I've played through in a very long time.

When I Purchased this I didn't even know there was a previous game. Whilst I'm sure part of that game set some of the tone from the start that was only implied in this one I didn't feel like I'd missed out on too much between the recap and the bits of dialogue that explained the world as I played through this one.

The characters are believable and interesting, and the decisions from Chapter 1 onwards have affects on how the final chapter plays out. In fact, The final chapter doesn't even give you any choices, the entire final chapter is a single destiny decided by your previous actions.

I finished last night at 21 hours play time, and that was just the one playthrough (although there were moments when I got stuck) I never left the game playing for any significant amount of time. In my eyes thats a lot of high quality story content for my money.

It's difficult to endorse something without spoiling anything about the story. Especially when the thing that amazed me most was the depth itself of that story. I will say that whilst I have a lot of games in my steam library, the 10 hour mark is about the average playtime for a "good game" in my eyes before I discover something else to do (with a couple of exceptions) So for this game to keep me engrossed even as I had to wait for new episodes to come out until I finished it is a testement to how much I enjoyed and looked forwards to each chapter.

There were a couple of times when I did need to use a walkthrough to finish this, and there were a couple of graphical anomalies during utscenes (people turning around impossibly quickly before walking away, or suddenly appearing after the camera was facing that direction) that kinda hurt immersion, but I don't feel they were numerous enough to count against the plot. That said, they're worth mentioning, because if those things do really put you off games then it may affect your decision to buy.

I don't dislike this game... But I wouldn't recommend it to anybody.

The acting is a little over dramatized, sure, but the story is pretty well written, it has a few twists, and there's a lot of subtlety I could see were clues for the ending you're supposed to discover at the end.

The problem was the end for me I discovered in about 30 minutes of gameplay.

Because ALL the footage is available from the start, you can choose enough search queries and gather all the information you need to find the big 3 plot twists far too quickly.

The game isn't *bad*, it's a story you unlock by searching for more information. Starting with a little and working your way up. The problem is in it's execution. Once you know the end of the story, everything else is just details.

I think if they'd figured out some way to lock the content... perhaps unlocking interviews 2 at a time or something, would give you more progression, extend the gameplay, and leave the twist endings for the end. But as it happens there's very little gameplay for what you can see had a lot of effort put into it.

If a sequel were made adressing this one fatal issue, I'd buy it.

This game is brutal, but awesome.

Usually with a game like this you will find yourself in the swing of things once your poplation gets bigger. Your new disposable workforce will be able to switch around to make non-essential goods as needed. But not this game!

at a population of around 300, I was "lucky" enough to experience a population surge of around 150 new people in just one year. That spring, 250 people starved to death since I now couldn't support everyone.

Suddenly I don't have enough workers to get in the necessary food to keep the remaining people alive, so I promtly shut down the production of all non-essential materials, I got low on tools, alcohol, clothing and firewood. My graveyards all filled up over the winter, my teachers, doctors and clerics all died. Town morale was at an all time low.

The game saw I was down and decided to kick me. A fire broke out in a concentration of my stone houses, burning down around 1/3 of my town. I was left with a huge population of starving homeless people who froze to death as soon as winter arrived.

...I think I'm going to start again at this point. I'm not in a great position in my devastated land of the now-ironically named Paradise Falls. But if you, like me, enjoy a city builder that's a real challenge then this game is you. Only don't get complacant just because you're established. You'll only end up hurt.

I hate tower defence games, and I chided myself for wasting yet more money as I bought this... But there was something about the trailer that seemed confusing to me. I just couldn't quite understand what was happening. "Lots of guns shooting purple stuff? So... I guess this is like a horde defense game, where you've got to keep a perimiter up?"

So I bought it. At first, It seemed like a lot to take in with very basic game mechanics, but once you've unlocked your full arsenal the maps become very challenging and innovative. I've sunk a lot of hours into it by this point, although I still haven't finished the campaign yet.

I've got a short attentionspan, my favorite game on steam has less than 100 hours on it, to be honest. So anything that can keep me gripped more than 5 or 10 hours is a success in my point of view. Especially when its as reasonably priced as this game was (compared to the average AAA game price, that is)

I bought this game in the winter sale.

I remembered when I was less than half my age now, and I was playing on the sega dreamcast. The first game I played on it was Crazy Taxi. I remember being hugely excited between the music, the incredible graphics, the fun physics, and the race against time to deliver as many people to their destination in the ever decreasing timer.

These days, though, the game has aged. BADLY.

The graphics don't look incredible anymore, the physics just feel clunky, and the timer is short so your runs don't last long. This game is cheap, but you likely wont get a lot of playtime out of your money.
