Its kind of wild how every entry in this series blows the previous one completely out of the water. This final game in particular is probably one of best looking pixel art games I've ever played. My only issue is unlike the earlier games this one is pretty easy and doesn't have a hard mode.

This is the game 90s Rare would make if the whole studio was killed and replaced by body snatchers

It is literally impossible for a game with combat this good to be "bad", but DAMN does Serious Sam 4 try its absolute hardest.
I won't bother listing everything I think is wrong with this game, because ultimately it all falls outside the shooting that everyone is here for (except for the boss fights, god are some of them painful). This is probably the single game that can give Doom Eternal a run for its money, I just think to enjoy it you will need to accept everything between the points where the bullets are flying is extremely janky and bizarre.

Much more than a level pack
This game is not only better than Sam 4, its the best Sam has ever been.
Pretty much every good idea Sam 4 had but fumbled is executed perfectly here.
The side quests, the wide open levels, the crazy vehicle levels. This game feels like what Sam has wanted to become for a long time. This game should serve as the blueprint for Sam games going forward

don't bother with the BFG edition, it is 4 times the price of regular doom 3 and every change is made for the worse.
The lighting is messed up, hurting the dark atmosphere
ammo is increased significantly, making an already easy game even easier
and you no longer have to put your weapon away to use your flashlight, which might seem like a minor improvement but you have to remember that this game is completely built around its lighting tech. there are entire levels designed around escorting a light source through the pitch black and this change makes them completely pointless. the original doom 3 required you to switch to the flashlight more than the gravity gun in half life 2 and by taking it away and making it always on completely misses the point of why it was there as an item.
the only thing that BFG has that the original does not is native widescreen support. but it is so easy to find a patch to fix this it is barely even worth considering

in short stay away, it is 4 times the price for a worse version of the game

Early Access Review
A lot of people are defending this game on the basis that it is only supposed to be a testing ground for the upcoming mmo. While technically anything can happen from here until the mmo's launch, I wouldn't hold my breath as this test has shown that this project is unity shovelware at it's core. You don't even need to get into a game to tell how screwed it is. The opening menu is a cluster♥♥♥♥ of default unity UI elements ,horrible looking preset characters, and of course a battle pass system.
Getting into the game isn't much better. Its one of those games that looks passable when looking at a screenshot, but once you try moving around in it you truly realize what a train wreck it really is. a lot of the assets were clearly imported from something else and the map looks like it was made by one dude in a week, completely sterile and lifeless with the bare minimum assets copy pasted across the entire arena. Character animations look janky as hell and combat is a slapfight where you have no chance of telling what moves or spells either character is trying to do
I know I have been harping on presentation this whole time and that this game is a small test for the much larger mmo, but the point im trying to make is this. If the first access we have to this game is indistinguishable from any 2 dollar unity scam game you can find on steam, do you really think we are going to get the mmo revolution we were promised come launch day? Give up on this project. I pray that you weren't one of sad 20,000 who kickstarted this game. Refund if you can

A great game but even with the fan patch it dosent manage to load the main menu on windows 10. Save yourself a headache and get the GOG version. At least they quality test their ♥♥♥♥ before they publish it.
