Griftlands is a great take on the deckbuilder roguelike genre. I can see a lot of inspiration coming from Slay the Spire, and Klei took that inspiration and built off of it very well. The big draw for me is the mechanic of having two different decks: a combat deck and a negotiation deck. It lets you mix and match playstyles between both systems, and also lean on one instead of the other if you prefer it much more. The other big plus from me is the story and characters; not only do the playable characters have fun, varying playstyles, but the story and theme of the game is greatly executed. Not to mention, it has good replayability, as a roguelike should.

Overall, I'd give it a solid 8.5/10, with the only drawbacks being some balance concerns I've noticed with certain cards seeming far too situational to make use out of. Definitely recommended at full price, but also worth it if you'd prefer to wait for a sale.

I wanted to like this game. In fact, I wanted to love this game, but I couldn't bring myself to it. Let me preface my review by saying I did not play Starbound when it was in its early access phases, so I did not experience the adventures that were, according to other reviewers, better than how the game is now.

The first few hours of the game were great, very fun actually. Lots of exploration, things to discover, and when I finally got my ship repaired and looked at the map of the universe, it looked massive, and I was so excited! I started going through the main questline with my first character, and it was going pretty well, until I started getting some framerate issues. I looked into it further, and apparently other players had been having these issues as well, and they recommended trying to run the 32-bit version of Starbound. This didn't help at all, so I just decided, "eh, whatever, it's just a few frame drops, I'll power through it." Then the visual tears arrived, and my patience started to dwindle. I tried powering through that too, but then Starbound kicked it up a notch, and crashed my entire computer. By the way, I don't have a cheap laptop, I have a decked out gaming pc. I hadn't saved for a while, so I was worried about how much I had lost. Started up the game again to the sight of an empty character select screen. That's right, the game crashing didn't just push me back to my last save, it DELETED MY CHARACTER.
So I went to google, trying to figure out how to recover my character. I was able to get him back, but everything was messed up. My character was in a completely different solar system than before, and I was missing half of what I had in my inventory. Long story short, I gave up on this game after that. I'm not going to go to the trouble of fixing a game, that's the game developer's job.

tl;dr On top of frame rate issues, the game crashed once and deleted my character (yes, really), and I couldn't recover my character properly. This game is broken, and until these issues get fixed, I can't give it a positive review.

Imagine yourself starting with barely anything: a low-grade cpu, low bandwidth, and little memory capacity. That's where you start in Uplink, but it's far from where you end. In this game, you start with barely anything, and work up to having a full-on gateway packed with incredible processing power, tons of memory and bandwidth, and even security systems for it! With this, you can break into banks electronically and steal millions of dollars. This game makes you feel like an actual hacker. You can access the international academic database, global criminal database, and the social security database, and you can CHANGE values in those databases for ANYONE, including yourself. Got a criminal record? Break into the GCD and clear it. Want to have a degree in something completely random? Access the academic database and give yourself that degree.

If you want Watch_Dogs because of the hacking, get this instead, it's cheaper and better.

I love this game, 10/10, worth more than $10.

Early Access Review
All in all, Exanima was a very fun game. The combat is very complex, and the arena mode was the most captivating for me. The campaign mode didn't intrigue me all that much, but from what I've heard it is somewhat extensive. It took me about 6 hours to complete the Novice and Expert arenas, and even then I still had more to learn about the combat system. It's really only the combat system that this game has going for it, however it's still in development, and the developers seem to be active, so it's probably a good investment.

While this game has some fun to it, it is most definitely NOT worth $30. I'd say $5 at most, if even, probably closer to just $1-$2, or even free. There are a few challenges, as well as arena mode and 1 on 1 multiplayer...that's it...nothing else except a few empty maps. While this game is mod supported, the community is not very lively. Speaking of not being lively, the developers have practically given up on this game. I haven't seen a new update, not even bug fixes, in at least half a year, if not longer. If you still really really want this game, wait for it to go on sale for a lot, otherwise, don't bother.

I thoroughly enjoyed this game. Like Shogun 2, it is a very deeply intense turn-based strategy game that can take hours, even days of your time. There are so many factions to play as on Rome II, as well as many DLCs to allow for even more factions to play as. For those who prefer real-time strategy over turn-based, there is also some real-time strategy if you fight out the battles (rather than auto-resolving). If you like pure strategy games, this is the game for you.

If you like strategy games, you'll LOVE this game! There are a whole lot other total war games, but this one is the best BY FAR! It takes place in Japan, where you play one of many clans, each having their own advantages. It's a VERY strategic game, and after playing it a while, I actually got a lot better at strategy games!

There is so much variety in this game that you will never grow tired of it! If you get bored, just change your class, and you're set to go for at least another half hour or so! This is my first steam game, and I'm still playing it!
