The art direction is cool and works very well to build the atmosphere of the city.
But the writing and gameplay suck ass.

I'm all up for "book-simulator" games with lots of dialogue (Disco Elysium is one of my favorite games in that regard) , but this ain't it chief.
Cloudpunk's dialogue feels like reading through 14yo's fanfiction.

A very short and engaging indie game with interesting text-based puzzles.

You could say that the story, the "twist", is more or less predictable at around the middle part of the game, but I liked it for its simplicity, 80's Stranger Things'ish aesthetics, and the fact that everything was tied together in the end of this sad story.

If you're like me and you want to buy this game for a nice and peaceful procedurally generated road trip - you'll be somewhat disappointed.
Or majorly disappointed, if you dislike snarky 14-year-olds telling you how radical actions are good against dictators and how you should show the middle finger to those filthy capitalists, homegirl.

The good part about this game - the music and the scenery are great. Especially the music. I've added some of the tracks to my day-to-day playlist, so yeah, it's good.

The bad part, for me, is everything else.
The encounters themselves were fairly interesting and engaging. As were some of the characters. But God...
So, I start the game at the trailer park, I go and talk with the first person I see, a woman with a cat, and I get bombarded with "SO, YOU'RE GONNA VOTE RIGHT? I HOPE YOU'RE NOT VOTING FOR TYRAK (get it?? Ty-rak. Ty-rant. Ooohhh... He's the big bad of this game and he has no redeeming qualities whatsoever, because he basically eats babies for breakfast. Incredible writing.) TYRAK BAD. VOTE FOR GOOD!" Ok. I talk to another person named Zoe. She's a typical teen and she tells me how she left her rich parents' home 'cause she wants to live "a normal life". Ok, sure. Typical teenage rebel, whatever. I move to the next location and the first thing I can ask another person is "SO, WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE PROTESTS? BTW, WHO ARE YOU VOTING FOR?"
That was the point when I started to feel the general mood of this game, and it wasn't about a chill road trip...

So, if all that doesn't seem so bad to you - you'll enjoy this game!

Like I said, the soundtrack and the scenery are done incredibly good.
But the theme of this whole fighting-the-dictatorship-thing, in my opinion, kills the mood for what otherwise could've been a really chill and beautiful game about running away from something.
