TLDR; Don't buy in current state.
Spoilers below.

The game is super confusing in the first 30 minutes, then becomes fun for the next 2 hours. After that it is just running the same few floors grinding ores at a slow pace to upgrade your town for next 30 hours straight.

I got so disappointing with the badly balanced progression that i cloned my character to mod it and then skip the grind just to try the actual late game. After upgrading the entire town there was nothing interesting in terms of upgrades, and all the values are not intuitive at all. Most items are alright thought and makes sense.

The levels themselves after the "Death" boss becomes much more fun but it takes such a long grind in horrible low level dungeons before you even get past that boss. This is again mainly due to everything worth while requiring 200+ ores total of investments.

I've a few issues with this game over Titan Quest which I have played about 2000 hours.

The game is a bit slow compared to TQ on very fast or even fast, also the movement speed cap in GD is a little to low i feel. The items and numbers in Grim Dawn are too much. I don't want to read 16 stats where 8 of them are more or less useless. This also makes it so if you after many hours of grinding end up with very very good gear you do more than 100k damage per hit. In turn this makes it so monsters need to have multiple millions of health and also gotta hit hard in return to damage the player at all. I feel this forces people into both playing Tanky build to not die, but also high damage builds. But isn't that the point you might ask, yes but it makes only cookie-cutter builds shine, especially on hardcore. Items you can't fit on your screen i feel is the biggest problem the game faces, rest of the game is amazing. Love the devotion, reputation grinding, spell added on items and the story decisions.

Grim Dawn is a more thoughtful and overall better game than its' spiritual predecessor Titan Quest. The mechanics in Grim Dawn are also more solid, improved on the overall combat from Titan Quests rather clunky actions.

Free game, pretty good.

Only bad thing is that the devs have no grasp of the issues with the game. They are pretty much brain dead. :)

You have 2 options when playing this game, no matter what you choose you will still have 0 impact on the game. There is legit no in-between.

1. Choose overpowered faction and steam roll everything
2. Choose any other faction and get completely dunked on and frustrated none of your actions matter.

Luck swings everything when you play a weaker faction. Not sure if i would recommend yet.

The best ARPG ever made!

No it's not perfect and buying stash tabs for real money is a good idea, and yes the learning curve is high but you can always play Softcore and just ♥♥♥♥ about.

Try this game if you like Diablo like games, don't hate the game before you understand it, also probably ask for help from other players. :)
