Much needed improvement on the original. No more stutters and frame drops. Progression has been added for increased depth and customization, which is really nice. A pretty good adaption of what it feels like to be clunking around a Space Hulk in Terminator armor.

Granted it's against the Tyranids and people still go down really fast. Get this if you like Space Hulk, or the idea of playing as Space Marines against endless waves of aliens who tear you apart in melee.

Starship Troopers as space mining dwarves, what more is there?

Amazingly good game, every class plays differently, and every run feels fresh and new due to procedural generation. The premise: get in, mine resources, get out. Except you have no idea where the pickup dropship will be, and then it's a mad scramble for the dropship before it leaves you.

If you've ever wanted to play Space Hulk as a shooter. This is the game to go-to. Tight corridors, intense firefights, and diminishing resources, Space Beast Terror Fright is a game that'll constantly put you on your toes.

Characters are ephermeral, so success in a mission means you keep that marine for the next mission, and the next, until they die horribly. Upgrades are carried over till you die, and every mission is a desperate race to find all the data sources, and then the reacter before escaping before your ammo runs dry.

Having played Deathwing as well, this scratches the itch better. Deathwing may be more pretty but SBTF is a very well done game of exploring giant spaceships.

Yeaaaaa, it's pretty bad. Loaded it up during the free wekend to try, and it's pretty terrible. Graphics look worse than Payday 2. Controls feel clunky, and guns feel off. Overall the entire game just feels very flat and not very well polished, like something made by a one man indie studio in a handful of weeks.

Amazing VR party game! Hook up an extra keyboard and some controllers and it'll be a blast!

Used this game to help demo VR, and we all took turns being the Gorilla. There's something very fun about picking up little cars and buildings and smashing them with your fists or tossing them across the map.

The movement scheme is very intuitive, knuckle crawling like a monkey, and doesn't induce VR motion sickness at all! Even to new players!

The humans in tanks and planes are usually scrambling around like mad, trying to bring down the beast, and laughing and screaming all the way as they get grabbed and destroyed.

It does feel slightly weighted against the humans if both sides are very good.

Bought it immediately after seeing the videos in anticipation of friends coming over, and DO NOT REGRET IT AT ALL!

Light hearted fun, anyone can get into!

P.S. Make sure the space is cleared out for VR play, and put the monitor and human players far away to avoid being hit.

If you're a space sim person, you'll like Elite: Dangerous.

Personally running it with Oculus Rift + HOTAS Thrustmaster, which definitely gives a ton of immersion.

ED is a very open world game. There's no scripted events, all the "oh wow" events are things that happen spontaneously, so if you're looking for a tailored experience, prepare to be disappointed. However if you want something freeform, where you can explore our galaxy in a 1:1 scale, this is your game.

There's support for solo play if you don't want to interact with other players, but there are private groups, or even open play. Personally, I'm a big fan of space combat, and love bounty hunting, but do the occasional space trucking. You will get jumped for cargo, you can smuggle, you can mine, and trade.

There is a deeper politcal powerplay faction thing going on I don't quite understand yet, but your actions influence the systems. Systems where tons of piracy occur may go up in System Security Level. Systems will undergo a Boom in trading if they get supplied tons of resource, etc.

But mostly, I play it for the spaceships. They all are pretty unique, especially the cockpit view if you're playing in VR. They all handle different.

SRV (Rovers) is kinda meh to me. Haven't sunk much time into it, but that may be due to motion sickness in VR from all the bobbing. You can do some ground missions, usually attacking facilities.

Multi-crew with friends is also a thing that I have yet to test. They support Pilot/Gunner/Fighter Control (control deployable fighters)

All in all, a good game, but you really need to shape your story yourself.

Changed review to positive after experiencing it in VR. The change to Ultimate edition only also helps the DLC issue a bit. VR is done very well and is an amazing experience to be in an action movie.

Definitely get this game if it's on sale!

Very arcadey, very little story. Play on harder difficulty for a more arcadey challenge feel. Best to play in coop. Singleplayer is pretty hard, and involves large amounts of kiting and takes longer to complete.

Granted, it is more on the repetitive side. So only get it if you want the hack-and-slash gameplay and not as much story.

Love the fact that it's a local coop game, we need more of these.

Also, a large update is in the planned works.
