carrion is by no means a bad game, the concept of it and the execution are top notch, and the time i spent with it was great fun (when i wasn't getting lost because there wasn't a map)
however, i 100%'d the entire game in just over five hours. there's not really any replay value to it, even if you don't complete all the containment unit challenges, the levels are all relatively small and can be burned through pretty quickly if you know what you're doing.
enjoyed it, but way too short and lacking in replay value to justify a 20 dollar price tag.
Either wait to see if it gets any updates in the future (a level creator would be fantastic, hint hint) or wait for it go on sale.

EDIT: as it turns out, carrion DOES have a custom level making community, it's just not advertised at all on the steam store page and it doesn't have any official support yet. go look for Cuni's guide in the community section and help alleviate the replayability issues while we wait for official custom level support (hopefully!)

i really wanted to like this game, and i really, *really* tried to, but the prevalence of the micro transactions and the need for the premium currency to really get anything worthwhile done killed it for me
you don't unlock new skins, you unlock the option to give DECA more of your money to buy the skins

tentatively recommending the game for anyone who might be interested in it, especially since Beneath was released back in November.
scenario and arena modes are plenty fun, and there's plenty of great community created levels out there once you've run through all of those a few times.
Beneath is.. okay. feels a bit lacking at times, there's not as much enemy variety as you might think and the total lack of music in the levels, coupled with the relatively simplistic look of all of them, can make consecutive runs feel like kind of a slog after a while. weapon variety is a bit lacking too despite how many you can unlock since a lot of them boil down to just "higher durability and damage, also ranged weapons" without doing anything really *interesting.*
this problem with weapons isn't helped by combat being pretty simple as well (light attack, heavy attack, handful of powers depending on your class) and the behavior of most enemies boiling down to "rush player and beat them to death." it's more forgivable in the scenarios since you *are* just fighting normal people, but i was really hoping Beneath would shake things up a little more considering how long it was in development
despite that, still a good game and still looking forward to future updates, i'm just really hoping the game gets to be a little more exciting in the next few updates

i have burned so many countless hours of my life on this game over the years, seeing it change from update to update into what it is today
the fact it's still got updates on the horizon is fantastic, and i can't thank relogic enough for the heart they've been pouring into this game for so long

bought this for me and a friend of mine while it was 50% off. poorly optimised, lags like ♥♥♥♥ even on the lowest graphic settings, and the soundtrack is pretty terrible. if you want a similar (and better) experience, just go play prophunt in garrys mod or something
