What a wonderful series. There's not really a game like this one.

Worth a playthrough for the discovery, although anything further makes the game dull.

Games pretty fun. I've been watching it from early kickstarter and bought it on release day. Glad to see the developers have been consistent.

Glad to see a diverse cast even though some need some tweaking. I like the maps too, as most aren't that disruptive towards the fight. Glad to see that we'll be getting free DLC characters for a while.

There seems to be annoying features, such as long count downs for retrying challenges. Holding escape closes out of the game almost instantly. Shame that it has a low player count, especially since there were lots of backers. And that gacha trophies seemed like an idea added at the last minute to have the "wow, look how many indie games are in here." Some challenges drove me nuts.

Great game for it's price. Insanely replayable. A bunch of fun features. Don't die.

Good game. Bought it before it was on steam. (BLID 3649)

- Its community is pretty bad, and the servers people host aren't as active as before. Most servers don't try or try way too hard. Most builds on servers are pretty poorly built (but that's okay, we have to start somewhere).

+ The game still functions, still has some people playing. Every once in a while, some person builds something magical. Has a forum, that people use to post add-ons, server info and builds.

Early Access Review
Starbound itself is a good game. however, since it's not close to being done, I say that it lacks content, so much content that it shouldn't have released this early. The game doesn't get regular updates either. I guess its okay for its price but you could get more out of Terraria and thats cheaper, but that has more progress done.

Starbound is a 2D Sidescrolling Sandbox with collecting and mining. Everyone says 2D minecraft and I can somewhat agree. Starbound has many flaws. It starts you off with missions then takes them away after the first sector. No ship expansion yet. Capturing creatures is mildly confusing when you have more then enough. Different classes, but are all about appearance. Tech's cool, Takes a while to get new ones because all of the world is randomised, meaning you can get unlucky and get three of the same ones before getting a different. It's cool while it lasts, but ends up being useless later.
Monster AI is trash. Boss AI is bad. All you have to do is pretty much hide while you hit them through slits, and you win.
Home planets are useless to me, as I fill my ship with too much chests to store the items in.
If you mod Starbound, theres things that replace some of these flaws.

It does have unique swords and sometimes guns. But you find weapons quite commonly on every planet so you might just throw your new cool weapon out quickly. Building and mining are cool, And I like the generation of Planets and sand physics. My favorite part of the game is probably architecture on the planets. Each class has its own buildings, and then theres some spare ones like the sewers.

Overall: Don't have Terraria? Buy that instead. Wait until this has more content. Cool to start, boring at the end
