Early Access Review
Starbound itself is a good game. however, since it's not close to being done, I say that it lacks content, so much content that it shouldn't have released this early. The game doesn't get regular updates either. I guess its okay for its price but you could get more out of Terraria and thats cheaper, but that has more progress done.

Starbound is a 2D Sidescrolling Sandbox with collecting and mining. Everyone says 2D minecraft and I can somewhat agree. Starbound has many flaws. It starts you off with missions then takes them away after the first sector. No ship expansion yet. Capturing creatures is mildly confusing when you have more then enough. Different classes, but are all about appearance. Tech's cool, Takes a while to get new ones because all of the world is randomised, meaning you can get unlucky and get three of the same ones before getting a different. It's cool while it lasts, but ends up being useless later.
Monster AI is trash. Boss AI is bad. All you have to do is pretty much hide while you hit them through slits, and you win.
Home planets are useless to me, as I fill my ship with too much chests to store the items in.
If you mod Starbound, theres things that replace some of these flaws.

It does have unique swords and sometimes guns. But you find weapons quite commonly on every planet so you might just throw your new cool weapon out quickly. Building and mining are cool, And I like the generation of Planets and sand physics. My favorite part of the game is probably architecture on the planets. Each class has its own buildings, and then theres some spare ones like the sewers.

Overall: Don't have Terraria? Buy that instead. Wait until this has more content. Cool to start, boring at the end
