Very derivative of games like Evoland or The Beginner's Guide, but not as clever or fun as either.

There's great storytelling and acting here, but they dropped the ball on everything else.
These video calls are split into one perspective at a time, and you only hear who you see. Like the world's worst dragnet surveillance system.
The bad part of this isn't so much having to piece the context together -- that's good clean fun. The bad part is how it brings the whole pace down to a grind as you fast forward through stuff unbelievably slowly. This isn't how most digital video works, folks.
You also get to rewind those vids unbelievably slowly, as videos will start *whereever* depending on the keyword you used to find it.
Also, there's uninterrupted footage of Logan Marshall-Green lying on a bed and looking aggravated for five minutes. In case that's something you were waiting for.

Baffling.

The first 50 levels hold their promise and are good mashup of these two games.

Here's the point of my review, though: Forget about levels 51 to 60, they're likely to leave a bad taste in your mouth. As is par for the course in Western video games, nobody spent any time making highest difficulty (as in levels 51-60) fun. These levels stretch the game mechanics to their limit and so you'll spend ages mucking around with your constructions even after you've figured out the solution in your head.

They should have cut these.

P.S.:
They kinda ruined my appetite for the DLC, too. Looking at the achievement stats for the DLC, it looks like that's not just me either.

All in all quite promising!

+ Graphics -- the overall art is really good. It would prefer color grading options matching the original, though.
+ Character movement feels nice, but a bit floaty (minor things like mantle from sprint needed)
+ Combat is ripped straight not complete garbage, which has plagued the series in the past

- Animal dodge success seems like complete RNG
- Animations for obtaining things should be less elaborate, AC:Odyssey style
-- Chock full of broken English. For starters, they call the mages "magicians." Talk of "kindergarten friends" is inappropriate for the setting. You get the idea.

The grinding has finally been toned down to a level where it doesn't feel like a chore anymore.
So I deleted my negative review and now recommend the game instead.
This was always a beautiful, brutal and easy-to-learn game, and that last point is probably the reason why MK11 is the fighting game that I put any real hours into. My hands are all thumbs but the inputs are simple enough that I can actually focus on the actual game for a change.

NB: There never was any P2W here. As of now, there's still only a daily rotation of 5 cosmetic items that can be bought. Consumable items, which are supposed to help you with harder towers, can only be gained through play.

That said, a grinding system is always susceptible to annoying monetization methods, so if that happens, I'll slam that thumb down again faster than you can say "foisted."

Early Access Review
Great game that has considerably matured. I haven't had netcode issues in ages.
Quake is the granddaddy of FPS games and they've struck a great balance between the classic blazing fast gameplay and the hero shooter element. The better you get, the more fun it is.
Players unfamiliar with fast shooters like this may struggle for a bit, but there's no shame in fragging bots until you're competitive. It's worth it. Once you can rocket airborne enemies like it's no big deal, you'll love it forever. So keep at it!

The only real downside is that ranked isn't too popular, which is another reason to play the game. We want and need you, yes you!

One last thing to mention: This game has one of the most welcoming and sportsmanlike communities that I can think of, moreso when compared to other shooters.

Wie gut sind Arkane Studios, wenn sie mal nicht in Bestform sind?
Immer noch ziemlich gut, stellt sich heraus.
