A tough game with fantastic customisation options. You'll spend hours editing your emblem, AC names, parts, decals, paint jobs and fighting the same boss.

You're going to want to use the contextual help guide to learn what all the stats and attributes of your AC mean when looking at the advanced info tab. It will help you tune your AC to conform to whatever game plan you've decided on to tackle a mission or boss.

Excellent mouse & keyboard support too. In fact, M&K seems to actually be the superior choice since camera movements are restrictive and sluggish with a controller... and this is a fast paced game at times. The default 'camera target lock' feature is actually worse than manually tracking a target since it losses its lock very easily if the enemy is moving at speeds faster than stationary.

Only bug I've encountered so far is Steam turning my review into a wall of text... nice one. Solution: https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/2953755177910614383/
This is a what a real remake looks like.
So far, the game has run smoothly and without bugs or glitches. I've noticed a few tiny hiccups at places where loading probably occurs, but nothing major. An easy 120fps for me.
Every area seems to be in the game, just slightly re-imagined and with a different path to it. E.g. In OG RE4 you might go from A -> B -> C, but in the remake you go A -> C -> B. Small changes like that, you think some things are missing, but then realise what's happening.
Some areas are even bigger and have more things to explore. E.g. Driving around the lake to explore places and advance the story.
I've been playing slow and thoroughly on Hardcore with some experimentation (and therefore deaths), and I've got 8 hours on record. I completed RE3 Remake in the same time. But the game says I'm only a 1/4th through the chapter numbers (you can check via the challenges screens to see how many chapters there are).
Also: No more QTEs in cutscenes (and no more Indiana Jones boulders). QTEs seems to exist only when breaking free from being grabbed.
The game feels a bit harder though, because stunning enemies isn't guaranteed with shots or knife hits to their heads, and the 'AoE' effect of your melee isn't quite as OP anymore. But instead, you have new abilities such as crafting items (ammo, grenades, healing) and being able to parry attacks with your knife which can make you feel pretty awesome.
In short, unless the late game is a disaster, this is an easy purchase.

This is a review with opinions based on playing Hardcore difficulty and having played the original when it was released.

Overall, this game is fantastic and is everything you could hope for in a RE2 remake. The game was changed up enough to surprise players of the classic RE2.

I played on a Keyboard + Mouse and the controls work very well. Capcom just needs to add a PC slow walk button, so you don't need to 'aim walk' to avoid some enemies.

Jumpscares - I know some people care a lot about these and there are some surprising moments, but none of them are made to be cheap like in other horror games. I dislike jumpscares because they are a sign of failure by the devs to create a true sense of dread, and not fearing when the next loud noise is going to happen. I had no complaints about them in this game.

Difficulty (Hardcore) will have you on edge if you're not careful with ink ribbons. An unfortunate side effect is that you may need to replay large parts again if you die, and they become very familiar and lose their horror aspect.

Zombies are tough - this is a big dicussion point that divides people, but I played by avoiding zombies and other enemies as much as possible and I ended up with an inventory full of knives and ammo by the end of the game. I actually had to decide just how many R+G+B herbs I wanted to take with me vs ammo for the final few fights because I had too many.

However, from a fun point of view, yes, guns might feel a bit underpowered when you end up using 10-14 shots (provided you have good aim) to kill a zombie. I do admit that I abused the door mechanics sometimes to lose zombies and try again because I couldn't stop them in time due to their tankiness. This makes the shotgun a very valuable tool since it can guarantee easy headshot kills later in the game.

Graphically, there were some anomalies, but the majority of the time the game looks fantastic. On a 1080GTX at 1440p + highest settings the game remained 60fps all the way through (as expected for being in an inside evironment 99% of the time). Only small issue is that the game currently incorrectly reads my video memory as only 2GB - something that will probably get fixed in the next graphics driver update.

Options allow for plenty of customisation - including FOV sliders and graphical settings that even come with preview images. Other AAA games always have me file hunting, using ini tweaks or other terrible workarounds to fix simple issues such as mouse acceleration - none of these issues are in RE2 and I had no problems just loading the game first time and gaming on.

A must buy for any RE fan.

A brilliant game. Not for the impatient or those seeking non-stop action.

The best way to play this is to NOT expect tons of hollywood action style set-pieces. This is about living a life in a medieval world where you are just a dirty unskilled peasant who can't even read.

If you like actual roleplaying, then this game will provide enough entertainment to be a worthy purchase. Find yourself a regime and plan your day's activities. This isn't like skyrim where you can stay awake for an infinite amount of time - you will get hungry and tired. You need money to sleep and eat... or not if you decide to poach and live in the wilds.

I was terrible at fighting at first so I got ahead through underhanded techniques such as using stealth and poisoned arrows and blades. See a bandit camp? Dump some Lullably potion into their cauldron and watch them slowly decide that its nap time. Then kill them all as they sleep. Or coat your blade in poison to give yourself a helping hand in combat. Alternatively, you will eventually become good enough to take on three enemies at once in a fair sword fight... but that will take some skill on your part, and good equipment always helps.

This game is best enjoyed when not trying to play it like a game, or trying to min-max or trying to loot everything. You can just play as the town drunk who burgles the nearby town to fuel his booze frenzy before getting into fist-fights before spending some time in the town jail.

There's also a few quests that are really quite fun and have entertaining dialogue.

Are there bugs? Yes. Is there some jank? Yes. Could performance be better? Yep. Do some skills and other mechanics need better balancing? Sure.

But, most importantly, can you have fun? YES.

I wrote this review because the ratings for the game seem a bit unfair for the amount of fun I had playing this game.

Hugely fun and comes with lots of improvements that were needed in Season 1. Lots of replay value and a great murder simulator.

Improvements: Briefcases, better weapon sounds, better difficulty balances, tweaked AI and better local dialects.

Downsides: Inventory management and its UI need a major overhaul. The poor and lazy 'Signature MKII' weapons clutter up the inventory and expose its shortcomings when the player has access to a huge number of tools (most of which are re-skins, duplicates or obsolete inferior versions of other items).

tl;dr = Good if you have a powerful PC. Bad if you are running anything worse. Wait for a sale to try the game - I bought the game at 33% off.

The gameplay itself is fine and that's already well known.

The performance could be better though. I'm getting steady 60fps but that's because I'm probably 'brute force' powering myself through with two GTX 970s in SLI. Rest of my specs are are: i7 4790k, 16GB of RAM, Win 7 64bit. But even though its 60fps, sometimes it doesn't feel entirely smooth.

I'm running 'Very High' settings at 1440p with the exception of Shadows (set to Medium) and running FXAA Medium. HBAO+ is on. Setting FXAA higher or using TXAA or increasing shadow quality will make peformance in Karnaca pretty awful. But with my settings I can get a steady 60fps. I've not actually tried setting anything to Ultra yet - but the game's textures are somewhat disappointing in areas for a 2016 game.

For those worrying about Denuvo and loading times, the first boot up of the game might be a little slow, but quicksaving and quickloading is quite rapid. You don't need to worry about the 2-4 minute load times like in Mankind Divided even when using an SSD.

The game definitely needs more polishing, but if you have a powerful system, you can definitely get a worthwhile experience out of this - especially if you are a big Dishonored 1 fan.

Not experienced any crashing issues after 11 hours of playing the game - so the seemingly unskippable company logos at the start of the game aren't quite as infuriating... unless you are having issues of course.

Because of the fun I've been having, I can't really downvote the game and recommend it to anyone confident enough in their system performance.

A game where murder is usually the best answer to any problem.

One of my most favourite horror games. Creates a great atmoshpere and doesn't rely on jump scares like other horror games.

A very beautifully presented game with very addictive gameplay. Lots of DLCs may be a turn-off for completionists though. Best bought during Steam sales.
