quite fun. Campaign 10/10 as per usual.

Online can be 9/10 if you have fun with the following:

- idiots on flying motorbikes shooting missiles nonstop at everybody
- idiot friends who keep dying in a heist every single time at the same position for 37 tries and who then blame you
- idiot random mates who leave a mission or heist with no reason
- idiot mates on level 444 who keep blaming you for everything bcs you didn't spend 100$ for online cash like they did
- loading screens longer than the actual gametime even with a top notch PC and connection

brutal atmospheric sound, brilliant and crisp graphis, great and realistic physics.

AI probably the best around.

Online-features need improvement, but online racers are 95% very clean, nice and apologetic if something happens. Compared to PC2, iracing and other ♥♥♥♥ wannabe "sim racing" games that's like heaven :D

Developers are definitely pushing the game.

8/10!

beautiful game (especially day and night cycle), lovely physics, good damage model.

lots of good online lobbies as well with mostly fair drivers. If you set "rank" or driver's license off, damage on and complain about rammers - your fault and yours only.

Career very sterile but varies a lot bcs you basically have to drive most of the racing classes to progress.

9/10! :)

First off all: don't get yourself confused by those mixed reviews - just take a look at a few of them and see for yourself: these reviews came from arcade-gamers who switched from Gran Turismo or Forza on PS4 to a REAL simulation, played less than one hour at best and then complain, the game is bad. Pure comedy gold :)

THIS IS NOT THE CASE!

This is hands down the best simulation I ever played. Assetto Corsa? Project Cars? iRacing? rFactor? Well they all have their up- and downsides, but this is THE overall package and a real - racing experience ;)

few pros and cons with a must read info to some points of it:

+ THE SOUND. Everybody says it. You will not get closer to a real racecar.

+ extremely beginner friendly - opposed to what a few kids with a 10$ gamepad say. Set ABS and traction control on and you're ready to go. But remember - this is A RACING SIMULATION! You won't be having fun if you're trying to "Mario Kart" this game with only 100% brake and throttle. Be gentle and patient and the car will win you more than just one race ;)

+ the extent and amount of playable cars, classes and tracks.

I highly recommend going to the official store over at https://www.raceroomstore.com/shop_de/list_page?cat=5 and go grab some of those sweet vRP. You will save a lot compared to buy the massively overpriced content directly from steam or with real money from the ingame store.

take this example: Buy 5000 vRP for 35€, get the "pro pack" and add maybe a trackpack: now you already have more than iRacing or rFactor can offer! And you still have around 10€ of vRP left! AND you saved almost 20€ compared to the direct ingame store and probably around 55€ compared to Steam.

Remember that the link mentioned above is the official store of the game! Not some shady site like some gamekey-aftermarkets.

+ physics - cars don't start flying to the moon like in Project Cars or iRacing - and cars won't break down or explode into a thousand pieces like in other games. Even the realistic damage model is quite forgiving - albeit realistic! If you find yourself crashing too often - turn the damage off! Or set it to "forgiving" until you master the game :)

+ singleplayer options - you can create your own championship with comepletely customizable setup. Whatever you want! 60 cars from DTM, WTCR, GT3, LMP1 and Formula 2? Sure! 3 hour endurance races? Go for it! 3 round elimination qualifying? 60 minutes practice? 2 races with reverse starting grid? Literally anything that is possible in real racing and more? Absolutely!

+ AI - once you figured the adaptive AI out you will always be into hard and challenging singleplayer fun

+ multiplayer - sure, sometimes you will only find 4-5 populated servers, given that there are always the same amout of races which already started, and a huge amount of races from content you do not own - so you obviously can't join. But hey - unless it's 3AM you'll always find a practice, quali and race from different classes - most likely free content, GT3, DTM and everything mixed up - within a few seconds.

- limited free content. Well yes. I had a lot of fun for a week or so with the free content, but it gets boring rather fast. So, pay 35€ for the pro pack and have more than a fully enjoyable game.

- free content in multiplayer: be aware that a "Silhouette Series" race with 30 cars on track can and will bring crashes, fury and noobrage. 90% of the time, someone from P25 just won't brake into the first corner and throw out 5-10 cars. Almost definitely you will end up caught in there as well and lose your precious P5 from qualifying.
Giving up a position? Hell no, they WILL ram you off. You overtook them fair and quite easy? Be serious you fool, they will kick you off for absolutely no apparent reason.

But once you get to the paid content multiplayer, most likely GT3, DTM and LMP, things clear up. Now most of the drivers have wheels - some for 10€ some for 5.000€ ;) - and it's a genuinely nice experience. If you can live with the fact that you won't win a race in your first few weeks ;)

Honorable mention to the AI:

Bear in mind that the AI will run and ram you off several times. You could blame the AI for this like some of the other, frankly, impatient noobs, have done in their "i've played this for 30mins with hardcore realistic settings as an absolute newbie on my 10 year old 10€-gamepad and THIS GAME IS #*?$!!!!"-reviews.

But you could also ask yourself WHY they bumped into you.
Maybe because you braked too early? Too hard?
Have you been waaay too late on the throttle because you missed the apex of that long right turn?

The AI isn't perfect and it doesn't aim for that! It will make mistakes, just like you. It wil however fight for their position but also let go if you're faster.

Most importantly last but not least

if you want to have serious, longterm fun with this game - go buy yourself a steering wheel. You can play lots of ours with a good(!) gamepad like the Xbox One S controller, just like I still do. But if you really want to "get real", turn off ALL the assists and beat the best times and the incredible amount of real racedrivers - you need a wheel.

start off with a 50€ Speedlink/Thrustmaster, buy it used from eBay for less than 20€ or US-$ or GBP or whatever. If you stick to R3E you should save a bit for at least a Logitech G29 (250€/$, 200GBP). But prepare yourself as you'll find yourself getting sad over your 15 year old 3000€ car with that waaay worse wheel ;)

Oh and if you're at it: Make sure to give Jimmy Broadbent on youtube a view. He's the best simracing content producer on youtube and he will answer all your questions with his videos, his comments or his messages :)
