The obvious-- performance sucks. I ordered a 4090 just so I can attempt to play this at 60 FPS. Constant crashes and disconnects. Haven't completed a single task yet because by the time I get to the objective I crash or disconnect. Inventory sorting is awful. They need an auto sort button. Also there is no character progression yet. So it leaves you feeling like....why am I doing these tasks to get XP to level up when there is currently nothing gained from doing so at all. Solve performance, disconnects, crashes, and give me character progression. Then I'll re-review.

Update #1 5/30/2024:

Got a 4090 just to play this. FPS is typically around 100-120 now with DLSS turned on. Performance is better, but the game is still very stuttery. The lighting in the game is hard to deal with. Have to raise gamma to 130 for indoor areas to look good, but then outdoor it's far too bright.

Also, if there is a dark shadowy corner or doorway for some reason if you ADS into it with an ACOG the shadows go away and you can see fine.

The UI needs a lot of work. The customization is almost non existent. I can't even bind lean left/right to key "press" instead of "continuous". Which makes the game extremely hard for me to play at all.

The loot is atrocious. Basically, there is no loot in the game. It's the same loot over and over and over again that has no value. Every enemy you kill has the same gun and ammo and then some useless hat or food item which there is no scarcity of.

THERE IS STILL NO AUTO SORT IN INVENTORY! Please, if you do one thing different from Tarkov please don't copy their awful inventory management. Go play path of exile. Look at their stash system. Give us that but with auto sort. Let us create multiple tabs and give each tab a custom name so we can sort our loot better.

Also, I should be able to loot my party member if he dies. That's just ridiculous. The fact I can't pick up his stuff and return it to him is beyond ridiculous.

Well I was actually having a lot of fun until I did co-op and at the end of the mission during extraction the other player shot me and killed me 1 second before the extraction completed and I lost all of my loot. Kinda BS. Other than that the performance is great. It's annoying to have to run back and forth between trader and stash. Wish it was just a single UI. And the directional audio is way off. I'd see my partner firing at 3 O'clock and I'd be hearing it from like 7 O'clock. Has good potential but I would avoid doing public missions while until they prevent your party members from murdering you 1 sec before extraction.

Very similar to Slay the Spire but better in ways I can't explain. Love this game and is perfect for Steam Deck. The progression system and multiplayer ladders are also a nice touch.

I'm a die hard Path of Exile fan-- this game is a perfect example of how great a game can be if they take inspiration from another game that did things right. However, it's not just a clone-- they put their own spin on things in a lot of ways and greatly reduced the complexity. The game has a lot going for it including Itemization, gameplay, end game loop, build diversification, trading/economy, passionate devs, list goes on. 100% recommended if you even remotely enjoy games like Path of Exile, Diablo, or Grimdawn.

Probably the best game I've ever played in the genre! Can't stop.

I'm in love with the gun modding and equipment customization. The gun play and movement reminds me of Escape from Tarkov. Performance is a little rough but not terribly bad. I can get 80+ FPS on a 3080 Ti with graphics at Medium. However, there are no stats on anything. Like I want to know how each and every piece of gear I equip or modify my weapon with has a positive or negative affect. It's a good start with some really good bones I'm looking forward to following as development continues.

Well worth the money! Amazing art style. Game runs very smoothly. I love the loot system and Tetris inventory management. This is a great start. Looking forward to a larger map and more PvE and PvPvE content. Also more zombies and better zombie AI.

I absolutely love this game. It has bugs, and is feature incomplete. However, it has solid bones, ideas, and concepts for a truly unique game. One of my favorite components of it is its unique harvesting/crafting system. A game that restricts resources to different biomes and worlds and forces players to trade and risk it all transporting resources long distances. Although there is semi-full loot PvP. The consequences for being a murderer are very harsh but not too harsh. It's enough to prevent you from constantly being killed by other players. The sheriff system is fantastic and encourages players to become bounty hunters. The gear imbuement and reagent system is very unique. Hard concept initially that isn't super intuitive but once you figure it out-- it's great. The level of build diversity is astounding. I have my complaints but most of them I hope to see improve over time. Looking forward to growing with this game and its developers.

The epitome of "pay to win". It doesn't get anymore pay to win than this game. However, if you removed the non cosmetic cash shop items from the game entirely-- it's actually an outstanding game that I could see myself sinking 1000s of hours into. They pull a lot of ideas from some of the best games in the genre, but implement them very well.

Unfortunately, I won't be recommending this game to anyone or spending anymore time playing it due to it's greedy, incredibly predatory, and over the top microtransaction system.

It's about time a GREAT MMO came into the picture! New World is the type of game I've been waiting for for a long time. I have over 300 hours played and I haven't even started on the story quests yet or done any real content. I've really enjoyed the sense of adventure that the game offers. I absolutely love games that have great crafting systems that are built into the very foundation of the game. I can't speak on anything other than the world, it's various systems, PvE combat, harvesting, and crafting. However, I am very impressed by the game as a whole and I will spent many 1000s more hours playing this game in the future.
