Only played multiplayer so far, this game is great. Still needs some polishing but it's the most fun 2vs2 I have had in a long time. Very unique game that is surprisingly in depth with all the tactical possibilities.

Tried Western Roman Empire just as a test, 5 hours later I finally stopped the Barbarian hoards in the alps. Eastern Roman Empire betrayes me and takes Africa....

Only Spain and mainland Italy left in the civilized world, can't wait til I am down to Sicily. 10/10

Was only suppose to play half an hour or so and then go watch a movie before bed, ended up playing 5 hours straight and ruining my next day at work.

The game itself certainly is impressive, the main narrative is interesting and the side missions are surprisingly rich compared to other games. With surprising plots and twists that really keeps it interesting. This could however could also be down to random encounters (such as airdrops) that can turn a lazy stroll down the street to a gazelle race through the city or hide and seek that will have you scurrying around on all fours while waiting for whatever is hunting you to turn their backs.

The main Zombies “biters” are little better then a nuisance if you are paying attention, the only time I have had real issues is when I ran smack into a hoard while being chased by “virals” which are infected living that can give you a run for your money, very 28 days later like. That and there are a lot spoiler zombies that will have you worried (Volatile) when the sun goes down.

Had a very “Fun” moment where 2 people had joined my game just as it was getting Dark, we were pretty much playing Sandbox. Running around and bullying the “biters” laughing and comparing different ways of killing them and the few “virals” that interrupted us. (Coop makes it a lot easier as you can gang up on more powerful zombies and watch each other’s backs)

This changed big-time however as the sun went down, we went from hunting to being hunted real fast. Trying to keep it together as a group when a hoard of virals are hot on your heals is both terrifying and hilarious at the same time, we ended up chased into an apartment complex which turned out to be a dead end. But thanks to great teamwork we actually held out till morning by holding a small apartment with one entrance, one person would heal and repair his weapons while lending an occasional kick while the two others held the Volatiles at bay with UV lights and everything from leg furniture to screwdrivers and wrenches.

Most heart racing experience I have had in gaming for a very long-time, our elation at surviving however went south when we realised the battered and retreating Volatiles had been replaced by a hoard of zombies “biters” that swarmed the building we were in. Seeing your team being dragged down one at the time by a wall of dead flesh, before being pulled out of your corner and devoured was surprisingly enjoyable.

Only real thing I can put my finger on is optimization, the game doesn’t seem to be 100% optimized and if you have AMD graphic card you might encounter some FPS drops that shouldn’t happen. Hopefully this will be addressed in patches.
If not a 10/10 then defiantly a 9/10

Having played Depth in Beta and followed the development for quite some time, I can happily say that this is one of the original titles of 2014, it is a game that is all about how you play and gamers who are big fans of survival, team play and horror should enjoy this title.

Divers:
Being deep in murky open water (or tropic depending on level) you will have little idea where and when an attack might happen and unlike Primal Carnage, run (swim) and gun won’t save you in a sharks natural environment. This often leads to tense or outright hilarious situations depending on yours and you’re team8s ability to stay in control, the diver team might hunker down in a shipwreck, stewing mines, sonar’s and flairs everywhere to fight of an attack that doesn’t happen... yet as soon as they move between two wrecks or caves half the team could be pulled away and eaten before they get to safety, this often leads to a complete breakdown in team-play as getting into the next wreck alive is more important than covering you’re team and ohh boy are big open spaces scary in the deep...

Sharks:
The initiative is in your corner, you choose how the game will play out and who will be eaten. With the array of evolution upgrades depending on how many divers you swallow you can either become faster, more intuitive or stronger. Going for the divers straight out of their Shark Cave or after they have been lulled into a false sense of security and just like the divers, team play can be essential between two sharks. Either by attacking at the same time from two different places (Smashing through a hull) or simply playing distraction while you’re fellow shark pulls out a diver whose team have their backs to him/her.

There are a surprising amount of counters and abilities in the game that really allow players to supplement each others, one diver might tag a shark with a harpoon, the other could catch him with a net thus leaving the two reaming divers to riddle him with darts while he tries to get out.

Or as shark, you might choose to take the hammerhead ability which allows you to disable the little robot that accompanies the divers (S.T.E.V.E) by ramming him in the open, this leaves the divers vulnerable between cover and in the deep. Which in turn can complete change the game as the desperately try to defend him they are snatched away one at the time in the best JAWS like fashion.
