Where do I begin? First of all, you are getting a ton of content to play around with. So for it's price (currently $10) it's one of the best valued games I have ever seen. It is a mining, crafting, and adventure all rolled into one nice little package. Open world, but you can set goals for yourself, or wander and explore. The game can be very difficult depending on what biome you are standing in. There are a multitude of bosses/mini-bosses and plenty of interesting things along the way to just continuously fill up your time doing something that is either fun, challenging, or maybe just interesting (fishing quests). This game can be overwhelming with the amount of different things you can do in it, but again for $10 dollars you are investing in potentially hundreds of hours of fun. If you don't own it buy it and get a few friends to join you which will add to the experience for sure.
