Friendly TF2 Notice: Random invites are OK, but keep in mind I am not trading or selling any of my rare items (HOUWAR, Max's Head, Unusual Hats, etc). General rule of thumb: if it's not on page 1 of my backpack (see link below), I'm not trading it. Sorry!

Visit Team Funcom's profileTrine 2 follows up the original game with everything one could have hoped for in a follow-up: more variety (in combat, enemies and environments), more beautiful graphics (which I did not think was even possible), and last but not least, support for online co-op multiplayer! Simply put - it is the perfect sequel. Everything that was great about the first game (refer to my previous recommendation for details) is still great in Trine 2, if not better. Other notable changes include boss fights and the removal of the limiting "magic meter" mechanic of the original. The story this time around is also pretty neat and the same humorous banter between the three characters is on display. The game is extremely fun to play with a friend or two online, but it is definitely also worth playing solo, if that's all you can manage. In summary, Trine 2 is an all-around amazing game, and the price is right too. Highly recommended!
It took almost a year, but I finally completed everything in Toki Tori. This speaks to the type of game it is - easy to pick up and play, yet also difficult (but just enough so that it keeps you coming back, despite occasional frustration). But what type of game is it? It's an action/puzzle game, I suppose. You control a chicken-thing named Toki in a series of increasingly challenging 2D stages in which the goal is to collect eggs. As you may have guessed, collecting those eggs without dying or getting stuck is where the "puzzle" part comes in. I also have to say that the one thing which sticks with me about this game is the level design - it's just so perfect - I swear the developers must be geniuses. And although the solutions to some levels are difficult, the game features a nifty time-rewind mechanic, so it's easy to correct mistakes and (eventually) solve levels via trial-and-error. In summary, I highly recommend Toki Tori. And luckily, there is a demo available, so give it a try!
This review is really simple - just refer to my review of Puzzle Agent 1. PA2 is essentially the same exact game (same engine, same characters, same setting, same types of puzzles). The main thing this one brings to the table is a continuation of the absurd story that began in part 1. So if you enjoyed the first game and/or just want to see how the story ends, then by all means, go ahead and pick up PA2. However, be warned - the puzzles aren't terribly brillaint or clever, and for the most part (as in PA1), the solutions are ridiculously easy. On only a few occasions will you be truly stumped for more than a few minutes, and that will likely be due to the instructions not being clear enough. Although, oddly, there are a couple of harder optional puzzles that require a more-than-casual familiarity with mathematics (which I felt was a bit strange). But aside from that, anyone should be able to solve the main puzzles required to complete the game. All in all, it's a fun, short game.
