A victory for Managed Democracy.

Helldivers 2 is an amazing game. Maybe one of the best games to ever come out. Could be a great of all time even.

$70, a season pass, and now a battle pass? Namco can go &%$! themselves with how much greed is being thrown at a mid fighting game. You'd almost think this was Mortal Kombat!

Newly Added shady DRM prevents the game from being played on Linux and Steamdeck. What a scam.

I have never been so disappointed with a game in all my years of gaming, since the Super Nintendo. How is this the same team that made one of my all time favorites, The Messenger. This is one of the most abhorrant nostalgia grabs I've ever played.

Let me hit the good points - it looks great, and exactly like the games its copying, the soundtrack matches the game areas well, and the combat is passively fun. The world design is great.

The bad points come from everything else, from the over-world traversal, to the disjointed and clunky story, and the absolute worst main cast of a jRPG I've ever seen.

You were so focused on building the nostalgia train you didn't think to give it tracks. An absolutely horrendous story with no direction, connection, or even passably well written characters. You built a strong world, then gave us the most bland, cookie cutter characters you could, with absolute Mary Sue protagonists who learn nothing, don't grow, and conquer everything through the power of being the destined heroes. This isn't a story, its a half baked 9th grade fanfiction.

The developers need to step back and think about what made those old jRPGs they focused so hard on emulating actually good. They copied the art and the combat, but not the spirit, the heart of those games. This game is a love letter to those old JPRGs that shows their love is surface level and entirely superficial and is an active detraction from its genre.

Playing this game actually has retroactively made me like The Messenger less; Sea of Stars has proven that The Messenger was a fluke, I won't be following this dev team anymore and it breaks my heart.

Great little game, needs a second pair of eyes on it to hammer out some rough patches.

For a single dev team, this is phenomenal.

I will preface by saying I am no fan of horror, even mild horror, whatsoever.

You need to play this game. Stop researching, stop reading, just play this game. Its worth it.

Its fun, but I wouldn't call it good. Its held down by abysmal monetization and completely uninspired map design. I enjoy playing it despite all that, the gameplay is skill based and fun, but the imbalance between the mobile suits is absolutely inexcusable.

I will enjoy playing it but by no means can I reccommened it. Try it for a weekend. Spend no money on it.

Don't spoil yourself - Don't read reviews. If it looks like it has your attention, pick it up. Its worth the money, trust me.

If that's not enough & you're the kind of person who wants to know why; Knowing as little as possible about the game is the game's gimmick. Read other reviews that will say much the same, but having prior knowledge of this game shreds its core premise to pieces.

It's not just trying to be the next dark souls, it's proving that it's better.
