Early Access Review
Let me get straight to the point:

Are you itching for some good, solid, old-school fps fun? Do you enjoy more abstract level design, powerful weapons, and fast-paced gameplay? Sprinkled with action and horror cliches and a soundtrack that gets you pumped? Then just GET THIS GAME. Absolute blast to play even in Early Access and I'm hungry for more upcoming content. GET IT, you will enjoy it.

Dusk takes a lot of influence from and pays homage to what I consider the golden age of the fast-paced first person shooter. It feels a lot like a long-lost title and it plays with that expectation a lot. The control over the character is immediate with a ton of mobility that reminds me a lot of Quake 3 or Unreal Tournament. The strongest influence of the game feels like the original Quake, with a chunky and quirky low-poly aesthetic that allows for some interesting and unique design choices that are harder to pull off in HD. Consequently the game also runs fantastically, making inputs feel even more responsive and satisfying.

My only real gripe is probably the art direction which seems a bit torn between trying to be more artistically crafted paletted pixel-art like Quake, or slightly muddier and realistically detailed like Half-Life. This isn't a real hinderance though and serves to ground the illusion that this is a long-lost late 90s fps game that came about during the early 3D era. From the mindset of bleeding edge graphical fidelity at the time, it's on-point and the aesthetic serves the gameplay well.

The weapons feel fanastic, mobility is liberating, enemy variety keeps things interesting, the level design is stellar, and the clear focus on "fun game first" makes for a fun and satisfying experience. As a modder I'm also excited for the SDK coming during full release and you can bet I'll want to be on the modding scene for this game.

This is a game that's not only aged well, but arguably gotten better with age. It's stylish, it's simple, it's a hell of a lot of fun. In what other game do you get a wild juxtaposition of sci-fi themes, anachronistic medieval environments, and demonic enemies all in the same package? If you like first person shooters, chances are your favorite fps uses a distant branch of the Quake engine and those of you who play TF2 frequently might find a comforting familiarity with the controls and weapons.

The game still has an active modding community to this day, and while not as prolific as Doom, I find this game more enjoyable and a visual treat especially as the "low poly pixel aesthetic" is becoming popular again and has a much tighter art direction.

Just be sure to get a modern engine like Darkplaces or Quakespasm. The steam release doesn't include the music so you'll have to download that. I /highly/ recommend playing with the music on as it gives a unique and chilling atmosphere to the game like nothing else.

If you finish up Quake and are looking for more action, there are plenty of maps and mods to download that continue the Quake experience. One I highly recommend is Arcane Dimensions if you're looking for new weapons, new enemies, and newer, bigger worlds to explore.

If you like games that are fun, rewarding, and meta while somehow using that meta to make you even more immersed, get this game.

This is a game where your choices actually matter, not just big choices, even choices you think are outside of the game's understanding. If you go in blind or partially blind, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I'm normally not a fan of RPG games mostly due to pacing and combat, but this game handles both of those aspects uniquely and incredibly well and I love it. One of the best interactive entertainment experiences I've ever had.

If you enjoyed Portal 2, from the story, to the details, to the mental challenges you'll love this. It's a little more challenging than Portal 2 and some puzzles might have you doing mental gymnastics, but rest assured none of them are impossible. Some of them do require a bit of backwards thinking towards the latter half compared to what you were taught in Portal, so keep that in mind.

The sound department is excellent. The music echos Portal 2 in it's tone and as a result fits in very nicely while still being new and fresh. The voice acting is great with amusing dialogue in many cases.

It's full of little details, including some subtle winks at those of us familiar with Source modding.

Definitely give this a try. It was a great and worthwhile Portal experience.

Very relaxing, very enjoyable. The zen vibe is palpable. Aided by a cool soundtrack, chill atmosphere, and beautiful landscape even at lower settings.

For some reason I had trouble installing it, but once I got it working it was totally worth it.

It's largely free roaming exploration and it's quite easy to understand what to do due to it's simplicity.

Due to how enraptured I was into the game, it was actually a little shorter than I anticipated. It could really benefit from an additional level or two under a different kind of landscape, like perhaps a snowy tundra, a space level, or a man made system of some kind.

Still if you need to relax, but you also want to have fun while doing it, then I highly recommend this game.

The Stanley Parable? More like The Stanley Paradigm. As a connoisseur and appreciator of secrets and details, particularly in video games, this game was (is) like an injection of raw immaculate bliss for me.

The writing in both witty narrative and outside-the-box thinking in clever game design is creative and brilliant. The voice acting is superb and really drives home the interesting part comedy, part tragedy, and part deviation that makes up the tone of this entire game.

It's both linear and non-linear in a sense. It's both structurally sound and confusingly complex. It follows the rules and it doesn't. It's both contradicting and conforming. You choose what happens next, but you don't.

This was both longer and shorter than I expected and I'm not trying to sound clever here, I'm actually serious. Hours of entertainment from what feels like minutes of gameplay.

I honestly wish it would've been a little longer, but at the same time I must say I'm satisfied. It's the same feeling you get after finishing a good book: It was a great story, but you'll never have that same new story feeling when being introduced to the story and characters, but you're glad to have experienced it at least once and revisit the story with a different and appreciative mind.

Will The Stanley Parable be one of the first of it's kind? Giving way to newer interesting game ideas and types? Will we be able to keep our sanity in the event this happens? Will it even happen? Who knows.

All I can say is that this game was well worth the buy and was a genuinely entertaining experience.

I also recommend getting the demo as well. The combination of the demo makes the whole experience feel more complete. Also: 8.

It's buggy, it's awkward, but really it's anyone's game. The appeal of Garry's Mod is that it really stretches the limits of the Source Engine that can lead to moments of creative inspiration, failure to achieve it, which leads to an even better idea. The fun of the game is really up to you, whether it's admiring custom aesthetics created by hundreds of talented or hardworking people, animating stop-motion style with what you have, or just bending the world to your will with an assortment of things to spawn including Half-Life 2 characters available by default. A very interesting and sometimes under appreciated addition to the sandbox genre.

"Hello gamers! Gabe Newell here. Now I know you've heard a lot about the Portal 2 game, but I'm here to tell you Valve isn't banging rocks together over here, we know how to make a quantum space hole game."

The original Portal was the first Valve game I ever played and this sequel not only does it justice, but improves everything about the original 10 fold. With a much longer story, varied visuals, impressive voice acting, but consistent Portal feel, the Single Player campaign is much more engaging and stimulating than the first game and will keep you wanting more even with a satisfying conclusion.

And this time around, we have coop! Not gonna lie to you, the coop puzzles can be much more challenging than the Single player puzzles for obvious reasons (depending on your friends), but being with a friend makes it all the more fun as you verbally work out a puzzle together.

Excellent game.

While not the greatest game ever made, Sonic Adventure 2 captures the charm and carefree atmosphere of the Sonic series very well. The story is simple, but is still interesting and unique, the gameplay is varied and decently paced, and the characters are enjoyable to watch. Sure, the game shows it's age, but all in all, it still holds up okay, and maintains the same perspective-based story-telling style as the first Adventure game.

The HD remastering doesn't really add much, but it certainly doesn't take away what made this game so enjoyable for me as a kid.

If you're an animator and you want an easy and free way to animate 3D models of your favorite game characters, than this is the software to do it. A great tool to use for beginning animators and experienced alike in my opinion.
