[OUTDATED] Fixed Half-Life HD pack

General information
As HL Wiki says:[half-life.wikia.com]
On August 25, 2005, the High Definition Pack was made available for free through Steam by Valve. However, Valve was criticized for not using the fixed version of the models, which were already available in Gearbox's patch for Blue Shift.

Solution
1. Uninstall Half-Life and completely remove any HL files from your Steam folder.
2. Enable "SteamPipe Beta" in properties of the game.
3. Install Half-Life.
4. Download official Blue Shift 1.0.0.1 Patch[www.fileplanet.com].
5. Use Universal Extractor[www.legroom.net] to unpack the installer.
6. You'll find 22 *.mdl files in UPGRADEDIR\valve_hd\models\ Move them to Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life\valve_hd\models\ (replace the old ones).
7. Run the game. Make sure you have HD models enabled in Video Options.

Expansions
Opposing Force and Blue Shift are still using old GCF file format, which can't be modified directly. So you'll need to use PHL Fixed HD Pack and Blue Shift Unlocked mod[planethalflife.gamespy.com].

This patch was released in 2001 and it's still not available on Steam. Shame on you, Valve.

Update
Good news. Valve finally released an update for HL1 Beta which includes these models. Well, it's been a long time, but better late than never.

So the HD models are now fixed, and fully working? After all this time, the missing animations were added? I didn't spot it in any of the Beta updates' changelogs.

Sry for bringing this back up but I wanted to add it's not working over here, maybe because I run a German system and there might still be a different German version of the game no matter what language I select (tried both english and german)-?

The ingame option simply does nothing.

HD models don't seem to work, the ingame description gives the hint "if available" but it seems the Game/ Steam just doesn't fetch/ download the models, tho the Steam FAQ says they would be "included" and the older HD pack Steam links aren't working either.

I also posted about it here in hopes of getting the devs attention:

Update

Ok checked the game folder's and it seems indeed to be related to a localisation version difference/ an oversight (possibly similar with other language versions of the game as well). There are the folders valve_german and valve_hd - so I just copied the contents of valve_hd into the valve_german folder and et voilà it works. Still an official fix would be nice.

And if these are the fully fixed HD models with the missing animations- I don't know, the folder seemed a bit too small (7,68Mb) for that.

Conclusion: the ingame option does indeed fetch the HD models but does not regard localization variants of the game's install/ folders eg."valve_german" and thus is not installed/ usable by the game. Potentially on all game variants as folder naming "valve_hd" would not automatically work there either.
