The Self-Extracting Archive will, by default, ONLY work if you have Darkest Dungeon installed at:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\DarkestDungeon

You can change the directory if you wish when it prompts you to do so.

Important Mac Installation Notes:

Uninstalling
Simply uncheck PBD from your save's mod list. Note that it is not recommended to continue on from a PBD save after it has been uninstalled.

Important:
Pitch Black Dungeon requires that corpses are left on in the menu. Many elements of the mod will not work and may crash the game if this mechanic is turned off. For the full experience and complete stability, please keep DD mode enabled.

Make sure to compare the revision number in the changelog to the one that you are playing. If you intend to use this mod primarily, it is recommended that you disable updates until I have the mod updated to the newest build.

Twisted Dungeon: Twisted Dungeon is a mod that changes the dungeon generation to increase the difficulty of the game as well as draw out the length of dungeons. Backtracking, scouting, and provision management are all guaranteed with this lightweight, but heavy-hitting mod.

Hello, after seeing some discussion threads pop up about your Lighter and Pitch black mod as well as Kotaku covering it, I am stepping forward as a Streamer at Twitch.Tv/TheMeadowz to try out your Pitch black mod for everyone to see!

Although, it seems that it's not yet at V1.0 yet. I shall await with patience and have the 'subscribe to discussion' ticked for future updates. As soon as the enemies are modded I shall step forward for the grand challenge >=)

P.S. I think that maintaining and upgrading every mod may be too hard if you go beyond Lightest, Pitch Black, into Twisted. But to everyone it's cheese. Atleast this cheese is not trapped right?

Amazing to hear! 1.0 will be out before the weekend, I can't wait to see your streams with it, and hopefully there won't be any bugs.

As for maintaining, I think you're right. It's already a bit of work with just two, but I think Twisted Dungeon is small enough that it will be no work at all past it's release. We'll see, right now 1.0 for PBD is my priority.

So I was going through my second dungeon when I got surprised by the enemy. My party shuffled to completely useless positions. I got it under control eventually but took this massive stress spike of 50+ per person for what I assume was being too long in combat. Is this a new mechanic of the main game or the mod. Either case it is ridiculous. There should not be a set battle timer for lvl 0 parties. It is hard enough not to get them killed off with this mod as it is. Ended up losing one of my highwaymen (one of the few level ones I had at this point) who wouldnt accept a heal because he went nuts all because of 50 full party stress which should not exist in the game for any reason.

It was added into the game to deter people from prolonging combat to heal party members. I DID increase the penalty, but the addition of the mechanic was done by the developers.

Edit: I misread what you said, but if you prolong combat for too long the game will start stacking stress on you.

Question: does it look like you can add your own graphics/sound as a part of a mod? If I wanted to create a new class from scratch (or give everyone Groucho glasses) is that feasible?

Sigh start stacking stress is one thing filling half the bar is another. How do they expect crappy lvl 0 parties to survive when surprised. Basically makes it so you cant use crusader or leper because when you finally get them to slot 2 and they can attack you have used up half the "stress timer" and if they get pushed back again.... well may as well retreat cause you are about to get a ton of stress.

Also a thing of note. Lowering the amount of recruits does not really change anything. Currently you can send in a high stress party quit out and recruit again. So you have 1 full stress party going into a dungeon multiple times in order to fill your roster. The way it is designed now you kinda have to especially if you lose units in your first few expeditions.

Self-Extracting Archive Option
I have added an option to download a self-extracting archive. Everything should work perfectly as long as you have Darkest Dungeon installed to the default directory here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common

Let me know if you encounter any bugs concerning this new installation method.
