How to get mods WITHOUT having to install a 3rd party downloader

Are there any mod download sites that don't require a "plug-in" or other download helper to install whatever they want on your system? I've seen the notes about making sure the one from ets2-mods not install toolbars and such, and hey I understand they need to pay for their service with advertising crap, but for once isn't there just a safe, plain old FTP download site where safe, legitimate mods are available?

Nvr been forced to use a 3rd party yet. "They've" tried.... i decline the invitiation and find the mod elsewhere.

That includes paid service hosts with "do not place this mod anywhere else except this host" - they're ignored too. :)

My philosophy -> If you want to make money with a mod, show me that you're a well run business, gimme a demo and tech support and I'll BUY it - if it makes the grade.
