in fact i bought this game for her because she always wanted to do taxi missions in gta and i thought she would love such a game. and she does, lol
SCS are just as surprised as you at the popularity of ETS2, they never thought it would become what it is, and have the fan base that it does.
I do understand what you're saying though, your example of Minecraft is a good one, I tried it, and am baffled to the fascination with it. League of Legends is the same, it's one of, if not the most popular game in the world right now, yet I find it totally boring. What may seem weird to you, may be the best thing in the world to someone else.
Make a little corner somewhere, and you may be surprised how many people want to sit in the same place.
nah, youre wrong. there is no cult. the game is just good while other trucking games aren't. its the same reason why other games are bought often. witcher series. great rpg, lot of customers.
Cult status? Uh.. what?
But regardless, people that are easily swayed into purchasing anything just because there's a high number of other people that own it are the sort of people like to call gullible and easily manipulated idiots (or in short just plain idiots). There's a few of us out there that couldn't care less about what the other side is doing/playing and we only want to own what we want and not buying just to fit into the 'popular' group because next thing you know the next popular thing comes out and they all move to that and throw away the previous popular thing; actually.. that makes them sound more like sheep moving to another field than anything else.
Just because a game is popular doesn't necessarily mean that the potential buyer would even enjoy it to begin with regardless of how widely known it is. For example, anyone who just buys ETS2 and isn't interested in the HGV side of the logistics industry, does drive/wants to become an HGV driver for real, enjoys travelling/driving etc. they hardly ever stick around for less than a week, pushing two, because it's 'boring' to them but yet there's people such as myself with over 1,700 hours clocked on ETS2.
Interesting.. I will probably never seriously get into it but i am curious to try it for $5
I find it very entertaining being I drive quite a bit all day anyway, and for some reason this really clicks with me.
I think it's the same with SpinTires. People look at you strange when you have 500+ hours in that game. Most cant see the appeal.
Me on the other hand am baffled how people can live inside RPG games or Mincraft.
hell yea, im waiting for this too. the graphics are awesome and the streets and towns seem to be handmade and individually (atleast more then in ets2).
If you never had LEGO or other blocks, when you were young(er), you will never understand...
