Importing scripts and .dmx's!
Okay, I want to import some .py's and .dmx's into sfm, and I have no idea where to put them.
Any help will be considered, unless it is completely stupid.

Py files go in game\usermod\scripts\sfm, if I remember correctly

I tried that, and so when i try to load the script, it doesn't appear in the view port.

Have you seen this??

https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SFM/Python_script_commands

It doesn't really go into where to place your script, but there is reference to a script that is already in SFM. Maybe there is some reference in that script as to where to place your code.

Right, I forgot...

Your script should be placed in game\usermod\scripts\sfm\animset

I forgot the "animset" in the original post.

You call them by right clicking on the model you want to apply them to in the animation set editor and clicking Rig then select the PY you are trying to install (I believe),

Here's another reference... https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SFM/Making_custom_rigs

As for the DMX files, I believe you can put them in a folder of your choosing. To activate a DMX animation you right click the model you want to apply the DMX to in the animation set editor, select Import, then animation. This will launch a file browser window, point the browser to the folder and then the dmx file with the animation you want apply.

Done.

Hope this helps

Oh, thanks for the kind comment on my profile.... ;)

Thanks for the help with the .py, but the vn_phoneme.dmx and vn_emotion.dmx are telling me that they "contain no animations". Does it mean that they are empty files?
Pte Jack 6. mars 2013 kl. 15.36
Nope, that's different... in actual fact they don't have character animations, they contain slider information (I think, not really sure) for the face and phonemes. I am thinking they need to be loaded a different way, but I'm not there yet... Too many general questions to allow me to delve into the more advanced stuff yet.

I am thinking that it has to do with loading phoneme presets.... and that kind of thing.

Yeah I think these .dmx's have slider info. They weren't containing any animations...

Well if i remember correctly DMX is a session file in which you save your animation or scene which is stored in Steam/Steamapps/common/sourcefilmmaker/game/usermod/elements/session and if its a PY file then it can be stored anywhere aslong as you locate it but like Pte Jack said normally stored in
Steam/Steamapps/common/sourcefilmmaker/game/usermod/scripts/Sfm

♥♥♥♥, WT_ would you reactivate a thread that has been dead for 3 years? Sheesh! Protocol dude, Internet Protocol!... Start a new thread instead of necromancing something this old.

And if you don't know anything about SFM, how the heck did you find this? Go here and watch the tutorials
