When can we expect these features, if at all?
1) Onion skinning.
2) orthographic viewports.
3) pose tools for rigs, and the abilty to create attributes such as a foot roll, and automated hand poses.

These features have been missing since release, and the work arounds for these features make the process of animating in sfm rather tedious.

Feature #3 already exists.
@Sync please elaborate.

What is "onion skinning"? Also, #2 already exists to an extent.

It's a common term in traditional 2D animation where you can see a few frames ahead and behind. These onion skins will typically be somewhat transparent and grey-scaled so they're not distracting.

If you do a Google search on it for 2D and 3D you'll find out exactly what I mean.

I'd love to have onion skins! it would save me much time from playback!
Also 2 and 3 on that list are kinda already features.

if by onion skinning you mean a model skin in multiple layers, you can kind of do that already as well.

oh, that. like the old cel animation technique of animating on a lighted desk and drawing on tracing paper to see a level or two below.

seems like it would be really distracting, not to mention resource intensive.

Dude yuo dont need onoin you see tracer green llines of where it was and where it is now.
Zappy 2014
So by onion skinning you mean motion blur...?
@Vintage,
It's not specifically like this (or it might be, it's been a while since I've used anything that had onion skinning), but here's an example.
You may have to skip ahead a bit.

...That will have to be manually animated.
You see how in the video you're able to see what your character will do before it happens? That's onion skinning. I also briefly had some stop motion software that showed you the previous pose, a ghost, if you will of where my character was in the previous shot. That's onion skinning.

Onionskins are progressively generated by the computer like normal motion.
but it still seems to be based on pre-determinded animations and possibly physics. which makes it a very limited tool.
you've had to have use them before to realize how useful they really are.
