About the Hueys
I have a few questions about the gunship (UH-1C) and slick (D,H) hueys in the mod.

1. Is the gunship supposed to have sluggish handling compared to the slick?

I'd expect the gunship to be heavier than the transport (empty) and that to have impact on it's general peformance, however in the mod they handle very differently overall. Dare I say the gunship "flies like a brick".

At the same time it's able to sling-load a large supply crate, same as the slick. Furthermore the gunship appears able to carry multiple passengers in addition to crew, rocket pods, miniguns and ammo.
Both suggest weight simulation is not the reason for the difference in agility, or at least not a consistent reason.

2. Is there a known issue with the collision model on the slick?

I can safely hover the gunship right next to a tree or building with the main rotor blades barely above them, but if I try the same in the slick the rotors break off before they even come close to collidying with anything.
It's as if the invisible collision model for the slick's rotors is way deeper or lower than the actual visible model, resulting in innocent landing accidents and low-level crashes.

I'm surprised I haven't seen this issue mentioned already as surely other slick pilots have noticed losing their main rotor when they clearly shouldn't have.
I've even added a "self-destruct" option to the slicks in my mission so they can force respawn, seeing as they're liable to shed rotors on landing and become stranded.

3. In 3.4e the 'invisible gunship' bug thankfully seems to have been fixed, are you aware the light (doorless) slick is still sometimes spawning with black doors?

4. Again on the "light" slick, does it have different performance stats to the standard slick or is it just visual?

5. This is more of a general helicopter question but is there any way to swap or expand the song selection?

I would love to be able to listen to more of the songs in the mod from the same helicopter.

1. Yes. It's a different model as noted by the UH-1C and UH-1D in it's name. They were different helicopters albiet of the same style and preformed different and differed in roles. Overall the both helicopters are supposed to be more sluggish then they are, with the UH-1Cs needing whole airfields to take off in the war and UH-1Ds treated the same in most respects for safety in doing large flight manoeuvres with other helicopter models such as the UH-1Cs.
2. Yes, believe fixed next patch releasing shortly.
3. Yes
4. I believe it may be visual although you can double check the statistics yourself in the arsenal to be sure. Otherwise I would say visually.
5. No I'm fairly certain there isn't.

Thanks Barden,
It's great to see you're aware of and addressing the issues I mentioned.

I'd like to follow up on what you've said regarding the UH-1C.
Considering the gunship's different role and performance limitations, is it intentional for it to be capable of slinging external loads and carrying passengers (besides crew)?

Further on the C model's handling. Understandably it has a slower climb rate (hence a longer take off distance) due to it's weight, among other performance-specific traits. However should it also be dramatically less responsive (i.e. agile) when turning/banking?

About the songs, I gather that you can't provide an option or script to change them in multiplayer. That said, for personal use, is there a particular PBO file I can edit the song playlists in?

Looking forward to the next patch :)

Regarding the handling from what I understand it hasnt been optimised to reflect RL as yet . Its one of those things on our to do list. Hopefully one day "Someone" Will convert our royality
free model uh1c ;)

The C has a massive payload in weapons and ammunition, this is why he must be a little languid than the other models.
If we were to remain absolutely realistic, the handling of the aircraft would have to deteriorate with the number of passengers.
These are my experiences from 6 years of military flying in the German Armed Forces (UH-1 H).

yea hthis is why we made it so yo ucan only take 2 passengers i nthe gunships, despite having many more possible seat spaces

I've updated to 3.6E and the UH-1D/H rotor collision issue unfortunately remains:

Whereas I can hover the UH-1C right beside the container in the video, with the rotors barely overhead.

While one may watch that video and fairly say "well, you should avoid flying close to buildings or trees anyway," the 'invisible rotor' is primarily a landing hazard as I demonstrate in my second video:

It's particularly frustrating and immersion breaking when your Vietnam mission (naturally) revolves around helicopter insertions and resupply. Your precious workhorse gets abruptly and inexplicably disabled in the field, then it may not reliably respawn by itself, so it has to be awkwardly destroyed along with any stranded aircrew (standard procedure in 'nam....).

Also the 'doorless' Slick (Light) is still spawning with black doors: https://i.imgur.com/Qsb69jt.jpg

That screenshot was on the very first load of the mission too.

The UH-1D collision issue is even worse than I thought.

I placed a pile of wooden crates barely as tall as the cockpit roof then tried to land next to it:

Black doors appearing on the Slick Light for the 3rd time in a row as well :(
