Avikan Hunting weapons?
What weapons besides the hunting knife you start with count as hunting weapons? Trying to role play an Avikan but I don't want to be stuck using the knife. Where do I craft said weapons as well?

Any weapon with the hunting icon in its tooltip (a small image of a bone spear, where the elemental type of a weapon is usually located) counts as an Avikan hunting weapon. Getting a kill with any of those weapons will cause hunting materials to drop. Do note that some of these weapons have secondary abilities which do NOT count as a hunting kill, but it should be pretty obvious which ones don't count. For example, the longbow that can fire an explosive arrow will not yield any hunting materials, since you're literally blowing up your prey.

One last question, is there specific places I can find sandcrawlers/spitters? I have searched about 15 deserts and I can't find any. As well as Theleans for tendrils and metal plates. Help?

They are found in the wetlands mini-biomes, which you can easily tell apart by the presence of quicksand. The monsters don't have a 100% chance to spawn in every instance of that biome, but you're pretty much guaranteed that at least two of the Kadavan animals will spawn there at once. Note that the wetlands mini-biome becomes a LOT rarer if you're using Frackin' Universe: that mod enhances exploration by adding a lot more biomes, but subsequently, it'll also greatly reduce your chances of finding any specific biome.

I finally found one, I love your mod and the races. Though I find the armor lacking in higher tiers with all the races, which is sad because I love roleplaying them. Also this may be a slight bug when I was hunting the sandspitters/crawlers they wouldn't drop any materials at all after I made about 10 passes through the biome yet my daughter in her mech using the laser minigun got materials like crazy. Was I doing something wrong? I was using Avikan hunting weapons. She wasn't.

The unique drops from those monsters are actually lost when you use an Avikan hunting weapon - those weapons default the drops to the regular Avikan hunting pool, which consists of monster bones and hides. At the moment, regular weapons will result in the unique drops, and vanilla hunting weapons actually increase your chances of finding those unique drops. I realize it's a bit counter-intuitive, though... I might change the behaviour of the system a bit so that Avikan hunting weapons can still cause monsters to drop their unique materials.
